The previous game wasn't exactly messed up. The songs where really strong, but there was nothing messed up about it. This one is so much more. Heavy beats that correspond to a raised heartbeat, plethora of soungs overlapping in seemingly impractical ways that both makes you feel uneasy, chaotic and at the same time, sounding like a scream or a shriek from whatever might be chasing you. This soundtrack was just as experimental as the game's plot and way of delivering it.

After that, Blake tries to reach her wife but Val pushes him on the ground and kinda rapes him. The rape scene was originally longer and more explicit but the developers modified this scene so the game would be unbanned in Australia

Dark Hole Yeah when your in a dark corn field with hundreds of places for an enemy to be it makes it way scarier than the first Outlast which is just mostly getting chased around corners in buildings.

Cool fact the red barrels team made a completely new instrument for most of the music in outlast two

Not Reb Barrels, but my own team of amazing musicians. Samuel Desrosiers and Maxime Fortin developed what we friendly called "The Redneck Bass". A more raw version of an electric bass played with Cello bow, recorded with Piezo microphones. Simple idea, great result. You can hear it clearly in the last track of the album... the rumble bass in the beginning.
