The PS- paints from Tamiya are made to spray the inside of polycarbonate rc car bodies. Like others have suggested already you should get better results spraying the windows from the inside. I’d suggest spraying the smoke before the Future floor polish application.

Beaut custom job mate, looks awesome.....I don't really know if it will work but maybe an ink based paint could work on windscreens? I saw Baremetal use it as shading on top of existing paint....it's very thin and transparent

I have used Tamiya 'Smoke' paint before, with no problems. I apply it with a small brush, to the INSIDE of the transparency. It looks very effective - I painted some of the transparencies on a model of the U.S.S. Voyager from the old TV show with it, and it looked superb.

Try with Tamiya X-19 Smoke. It is Clear paint. Apply inside the glass. Or mix black acrylic paint with Future but use very little black until you get the tone of smoke glass then dip the clear plastic in it. Let it sit and dry before doing another coat. Nice VW

I don't use tamiya clear colors very often but when i do, i get results far beyond my expectation, though i use an airbrush to spray, i never bother to get the rattle cans unless its the fine primer and sometimes clear coats. Even though the clear colors are thin enough to spray right out of the pot, i thin mine probably 3 parts paint and 1 part thinner. i lay down about 8 thin coats building up to a desired look... though i do not exactly have it down to a science. Lastly, when you are tinting clear parts, spray on the opposite side of the "show" side (the inside of the windshield, not the outside). but for sure ditch the rattle can.

The tint should be sprayed on the inside part of the glass. Then you wont see the roughness of the paint

Not really a fan of those exaust pipes, but you did a superb job with this car. About the smoke, ever thought of buying the one in a little pot and spray it with your paint gun? Maybe it would help with the texture? Personnally, I didn't notice the problem you had with it on the final product, which I'll say again is pretty nifty! ^^

On the tinting, maybe try some transparent or translucent artist ink mixed into some acrylic floor polish(Future/Pledge whatever they call it now) and then dip it in that and let it dry. Might take a couple dips to build it up. The cool thing here is, if it works you can tint in other colors besides black.
