OOD REACTS: Adam Savage's Head-Mounted Dart Blaster

Every time Adam Savage incorporates foam-flinging into his One Day Builds it blows up in a big way, and a couple of weeks ago he did just that!
Today We’re going to do something I haven’t done on this channel. I’m going to react to his helmet-mounted dual-D-Dart Pro blaster mod, give some insight on the hobby side of things, and maybe tease a follow up build of our own in response.

Not practical? Adam once said the reason he did half the stuff on Mythbusters was because it was wrong and because he can. If anything, Luke, you building a head-mounted proton pack blaster is the start of a 'top this' challenge with Adam Savage and the Tested crew. Heck , it could lead to you two doing a collaboration project. Oh I would love to see that!

I was already adding up the cost of Dual Proton-Packs, and picking out the right Airsoft helmet. 2 Jupiters are definitely the way to go. The system should activate with a handheld grip control.

Darts Out Of Darts! Wanted to say great video, and I can tell you enjoyed watching the build, and gave you much inspiration. As far as my personal opinion goes for you creating something along time same lines, I believe a pair of protonpack fed, head mounted, Jupiter's as one of your builds would be amazing. However, once again, in my opinion, it would be best done if they ran off of separate triggers, so you can fire one at a time, might make it *somewhat* HvZ practical. I also hope your dream of doing a video with Adam Savage is soon fulfilled. Have a great day!

Last year I had my own idea for a head mounted blaster, it would be based off of the Jupiter or Mount Olympus but the Proton-Pack connector would come out perpendicular to the blaster on a swivel, so that it could rotate. You could then motorise the swivel or a bearing or something so that you can spray foam all the way around your head, or side to side within a set angle, to become some sort of monster HvZ lighthouse! 🤣 Edit: Just seen that you want to make a double Mount Olympus Helmet, DEFINITELY DO IT!!!!!

I was already trying to figure out the wiring to run this same build, but the trigger is the same triggers on my 15 dart per second 2 stage rapidstrike. So I could shoot the rapidstrike one direction and the helmet another at the same time, lol. Looks like some MOSFET learning time, lol.

Suggestion: HvZ domination blaster. Take your dual Jupiter + Proton Pack head mount idea, and add rear-facing shotgun blast activated by motion + IR incase you get outflanked. It should also give you an audible indication that it has fired, thus alerting you to a rear assault in progress. Alternatively, you could make the rear-facing blaster a super high fire rate unit on an actuator that sweeps a side-to-side pattern as it fires. 🤔 I wonder how many proton packs one man could support... We must know, Luke!

It's funny what you were saying about 3D printing being your go-to for manufacturing and how that's the way you think of designs; I used to be quite a bit like that but my printer's been out of service for a while and that's made me start designing with machining or 2D nets in mind instead. Also, whenever I see any engineering/tinkering channels doing blaster-related projects, I too just can't stop thinking about the actual hobby-grade internal mods they could do. They're often over-engineered and under-performing, but with the right knowledge they could be so much better! I would really like it if you reacted to some of Hacksmith Industries' blaster projects, like the Halo blaster and the Rival Drone. Great video, nice to see a new style! 🧡
