Lots of people confuse quality for genericism... 🤷♂️ If the chorus is strong, it’s “too pop”, if the rhythms are just cruising and doing their job, it’s “not heavy enough”... if the lead guy holds back in a tasteful way, it’s “not technical enough”... Like man, being a great musician is about knowing when to jump in and out, and when to simplify, to better benefit the song as a whole. Not just ramming your musical chops down listeners’ throats. I don’t get the hate either... lol. Lots of solid songwriting, musicality, and cool experimental touches here... progressive structure... it’s good stuff.

These comments are a painful reminder of how shitty the metal community can be. This is my introduction to this band and I'm absolutely blown away. The song is fantastic in terms of mixing, structure, tone, vocals, emotion, etc., yet half of the comments here are some backhanded remark about how this song would've been "so much better with the previous vocalist." I understand that change can be hard for people, but have some respect. Imagine how hard it would be to replace a lead vocalist, and how hard it would be for a band that has to reinvent itself after losing its vocalist. And despite all of that, they come out with an airtight banger. This community really has to learn how to just respect and enjoy this amazing music without throwing a temper tantrum any time a song comes out that isn't exactly how you thought it would sound.
@Shard.113 жыл бұрын
I think most of the people are unhappy because we got Alazka instead of Novelists, when the title of the song clearly says Novelists FR. Any kind of feedback is good for a musician if you ask me.
@ThereWhereWeAreNot3 жыл бұрын
Same. I've been listening to this song since the middle of December. I have no idea who Alaska is, what their former vocalist sounded like and what people actually complaining about. I'm not into metal and I know how hard it's to get into heavier music. This song is a gate to this world for newcomers and with this introduction they have so much credibility that they have no choice but to succeed
@ruok33513 жыл бұрын
You're overthinking it. As a listener you're not obliged to simp for any band and just suck in everything they do no matter what. That's stupid. Because to my ears and others as well, the old vocalist simply had a much better voice and their previous songs also felt stronger than this. Now I'm hoping their new album will change my mind but atm I don't like the direction they're going. If it turns out to be disappointing then I will simply stop looking forward to their new material. It's still the music that counts.
