Thanks Dave for another outstanding interview. We need Revel in Boston. EV mandates are perceived as evil because Americans want freedom of choice. But, air in NYC is so dirty, we need ride share and taxis limited to BEVs in 5 years. Notice smart Revel marketing. They hide ugly areas with baby blue signage and covers. I really like it and want to try Revel.

@shrichaudhary6 сағат бұрын
@@eastmanwebb5477 they use cases for Manhattan are different from the outlying borough of New York City, which again are different from other parts of the country. For regular people who own cars in Manhattan most have an access to parking, which is where the Level2 charging would be the best. People usually don’t spend long enough time in shopping centers to allow for any significant charging to happen at Level2 rates.

I live in NJ and when we had our 2011 Nissan Leaf these types of chargers would have been a godsend. However with most EV's getting 250 mies of range, most commuters would not have to charge in the city. However, these are needed for the growing number of rideshare drivers, driving EV's. They are clogging up fast chargers in the NY,NJ metro area.

Maybe they can subsidized some other ev charging companies that might want to support less dense areas, but its good to know of more ev changing stops available across the country for those of us who may want to road trip across country in an ev. With the speed it might be nice to get charged per minute.

So, it's not government regulation that is slowing the process. It's the private utility that cannot provide the service...
@KyleConner12 сағат бұрын
Utilities are holding up countless DCFC sites
@junehanzawa51657 сағат бұрын
@KyleConner Correct. But unfortunately, on many red, anti-EV states, the politicians there have added extra regulations to make the permitting proccess as long as possible for the utilities. And many times denying them altogether. For example, in West Virginia there isn't a single CSS fast charger in the entire state. They keep denying them. Fortunately, Tesla has opened many of their sites there to NACS access. NY is clearly NOT one of those states, as you saw on your fantastic I-90 Surge race that you both were on. Thanks again for putting that massive coordination and planning together. The issue in NYC, specifically Manhattan, is the lack of space for fast chargers. Especially, affordable space. Which is why unused spaces like these under both the East and West Side highways are the only way to go.

Great video Dave, appreciate the info. Off topic, spent a day in Marco island visiting vacationing friends. Went to Keewaydin island for a day trip (boat) of shelling. We did not need to charge but Tesla needs to step up and have chargers on Marco. With you and Kyle’s pull, hopefully you can get that done. lol stay safe.

Darryl, next door to Marco is Naples with multiple Tesla Superchargers. Next to Naples is Bonita Springs where there’s permitting for Superchargers and we have 6 - 350 kW EA stalls going on-line before end of year at Bank of America next to Home Depot. I’ve driven both projects for 3 years.

At about $.65 per kilowatt hour does it work out cheaper than gas?
@johnpoldo881713 сағат бұрын
If you are buying premium in the city yes. But, in neighboring Connecticut where Dave works, regular gas costs less. To save money, you must charge at home.
@fiehlsport12 сағат бұрын
DC fast charging rarely, if ever, works out to be cheaper than gas. Level 2 charging is where you’d see the savings. But for a rideshare use case in NYC, the drivers don’t often have affordable L2 charging available, or the time. This video is showcasing a niche that won’t apply to most folks, if you’re talking charging costs.

This is the largest, most dense city in the country by far. And one of the largest in the world. Have you any idea what the price of gas is in the very, very few gas stations in midtown and downtown Manhattan where most of the taxis/ride shares are? That is dirt cheap compared to what regular ICE drivers have to pay there. Which is why DC Fast Charging sites like these are so important.

Why is it that golf cart charging stations rarely ever have a canopy over the car? What idiot would charge a golf cart in the rain without a canopy? It is precious that a person like Dave is shilling for charging stations after stealing tens of thousands of dollars of taxpayer subsidies for his golf cart purchases.
