Kyle. I don't know what people's experiences are with Kia's and their 12v batteries? I've heard lots of stories on KZbin and in Forums but my Niro EV charges the 12v from the traction battery about 2am every night so I haven't had a problem with it yet (touch wood)! I can only think, that because if you only press the Stop/Start button once it runs the systems from the 12v battery, people are doing this (to entertain the kids while they pop in to the shop or whatever) maybe mistakenly thinking the car is fully on and winding down the 12v so the 10 minutes of charging time isn't enough to recharge the 12v each night!? If I'm going to the shop while the Mrs sits inside, I'll either tell her not to press the Start button or turn the car fully on myself and tell her not to ply around with the gear selector dial (older Niro)! I'm wondering if people out there sit around in the car for ages in 12v only mode then moan online when their 12v battery appears to be suddenly dwindling, without thinking/researching why!?

My EV9 has the bench seat for the second row with a 60-40 split. The 40 split portion does the same thing as the VW. I put my forward facing kid car seat in that spot and it only barely changes the opening for the third row. Which can be fully mitigated by moving the front passenger seat up to allow full movement of the second row seat.

iD Buzz makes me smile which is mowt important. but there is nearly 12-13k price difference here in Canada between a top spec EV9 and Buzz. 215 miles is 350km at -10c that will be about 250-275km which isn’t horrible. Mid spec EV9 is the one that seems to be buying around here I would still take the Buzz

I have a family and live where it is hot. I would prefer an electric car with a start button. It is really annoying to not be able to leave our current electric car on when the driver is not in the driver seat. For example, it is way easier to turn the car on in the cockpit and then load everyone in than it is to have to turn on the car precondioning with an app. It is also really annoying that the car turns off when you hop out at the mailboxes and the kids are in the car.
@muten86118 сағат бұрын
So that was some sort of incorrect by Kyle. Apart from the smartphone app, you can also start the climatization in the buzz, via screen. Once you have left the seat, there is a button on the screen to activate the climatization and then the 30 min pergram is starting. And for the nerds: You can implement some sort of camping mode in the buzz via smart home systems like HomeAssistant.

My ID.4 would turn OFF when you turn your head to look to the side before pulling back out of your driveway. The car was extremely sensitive to any change in weight in the driver's seat and used that to literally just put the car in park and say a big "Goodbye" on the screen. You can see this bus did something similar where it told Kyle "Goodbye" on the screen when he was still clearly sitting in the driver's seat.

Right now the EV 9 is an easy win based on price and availability. I can right now get an EV 9 in the trim and color I want for at least $5000 below MSRP. Same 3 row capability, a lot less money and a lot more range. Once the Buzz is selling below MSRP and you can have your pick of the littler, it will be very competitive. The charging speed on the Buzz for Super chargers is a big advantage, but by the time there is price parity I’d expect the 2025 EV 9’s to charge a lot better and have a NACS port. I test drove an EV 9 yesterday, something I can’t do in a Buzz yet and I was surprised at how nice it was inside. The Buzz looks awesome inside and out but VW is staying with asinine haptic buttons and sliders on the steering wheel and instrument cluster.

Kyle… you didn’t hit your knee on the EV9 shifter? 6’0” here and I did… maybe it’s because of that steering wheel distance problem you mentioned, so I moved my seat closer. I definitely loved the space and the GT-Line drove great… You are completely right about once you’ve lived with phone key. Ultimately I had to pass because even with the lease discounts… it was just more than I wanted to spend. Truthfully I didn’t really need THAT much more space like 90% of the time (just wanted more than the Model 3 that I have). After a GM EV drive event that gave me a brief drive in a Lyriq, Blazer EV and Equinox EV and test drives of the Prologue Elite and FWD Touring… I ended up with the Prologue Elite. It’s not perfect, but the space was what I was looking for (vs EV6, Ioniq5 and Mach-E) and daily driver performance acceptable (Sport mode does make a difference… makes it more… responsive)… the dealer made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.

I actually like the thought of getting a Carnival hybrid. The only thing that's making me hesitant about getting one is the 1.6 engine. Those engines don't seem to last as long as the almost bulletproof 1.8 that's in my Niro, and a 1.6 engine in a minivan of that size sounds like the engine will be continuously overstressed despite having the hybrid system.

When comparing MSRP of the two EVs in Colorado to that of a non-PHEV/BEV minivan or SUV, consider leasing then buying out the lease immediately. Through the end of this year that nets $12,850 off MSRP effectively for the Buzz between the lease cash + CO signed over credit. The EV9 math would be even better as they're pushing big Kia lease cash at them.

Guys, I cannot overstate how frustrating it is that ID4 doesn’t use a start stop button. Every time I want to leave someone in the car while run in to get something from the quickie mart or pick up a pizza and the music stops and the AC turns off, I seethe inside. Every time it turns itself on and off three times while I hike my butt up in the seat to put my wallet and keys in my pocket, or turn around and grab my jacket out of the back seat, I want to scream. A start stop button is a non-negotiable must have in my next EV.

yes this -- I think VW's implementation in particular is way too sensitive to any um adjustment of your butt cheeks. I had the thing turn off at a parking garage when I went to grab the ticket with people behind me. Then I had to get carplay back while exiting the garage in a city after turning it back on. Really another thoughless touch by VW
@pine1118 сағат бұрын
Hard disagree. Its an EV, it doesnt need to start anything, getting in the car and having it ready to go and just being able to leave the car and trust that it turned off is awesome. Especially on a cold or hot day, if you forget to start AC from your phone, getting in the car and having it immediately start cooling down or heating up simply because you've opened the door is so nice. Push button start is ICE thinking. I also never ever have issues with ID cars and them turning off when you shuffle in your seat, unless you're practically standing by that point and have no weight on the seat, also when you open the door to leave, it gives you an option to leave the AC on, so that's a nonissue.

Hi Kyle. Happy holidays. Recently added a Honda Prologue to our stable. Any word on Honda being able to charge on SC network without the blazer ev work around using the Nacs adapter? Do you know if Honda plans on offering adapters to Honda EV owners or atleast sell them.

Do you guys have a review of the odyssey, it’s the driver’s minivan because of that v-tec v6 engine in it!! It’s no racer, but surprising drive for a minivan!

Previous-gen Sienna had the engine out of Lotus Evora. No power under 5k rpm is what I want in my family hauler.

Really hope the future of the Tesla supercharger support is made more clear, and existing stations are upgraded or clearly marked online. Non-tesla owners should only need to know 1 thing: Will my car do 86 or 200+ kwh on this station? Either ABRP or google maps or the internal car nav should be able to account for that.

EV9 all day over the Buzz. It’s just nicer all the way around and the warranty is a huge bonus. The lease deals are amazing on top of it. The buzz looks different and that’s a good thing. But the windows not closing, the beeping from the trunk for no reason, no cup holders in the rear, only 3500 pounds towing. It screams software issues and problems to me. A minivan will always provide more space than an SUV. That Carnival would probably be my choice if I needed a big people mover.

I mean I own neither. But lots of problems with the EV9 from reading in a Swedish EV9 fb group. If the buzz is even worse, then wow.

When VW has to go looking for help in China for software, that’s a red flag to me. Software is the engineering of today and of the future. If VW can’t engineer EV’s themselves and needs to have others do it for them, they might as well just sell to the Chinese software developers. The Chinese just want access to factories in Europe and other locations across the world to avoid tariffs, they know how to build cars since software pretty much can tell someone how to do it, what materials, costs, and so on. VW’s value is in name and geography alone if they can’t master software by themselves. This is why Tesla is so valuable and why their software is the best out there while the build quality of their cars may lag a bit. To me the only thing Tesla lacks is updating the look of their cars at a faster pace. That would allow them to fix quality and design issues quickly and make them always look fresh. Right now they all look dated other than the model 3 refresh, and that took way too long to refresh. Once they got that down, they will be the only ones that will be able to compete with China. Hyundai and Kia are next in line and I think are way ahead of most other automakers right now but lag Tesla. Their focus should be on lowering costs and prioritizing software and quick software updates.

They said the software on the VW is significantly better than on the Kia multiple times in this video. There literally are cupholders in the rear, 2nd row in the doors, 3rd row on the side, it was shown in the video, the beeping was because they kicked under the tailgate and it was waiting for them to walk away and then it would close. It feels like you’re just trying to nitpick the VW. Also if you’re gonna talk about issues, the EV9 has 12V charging issues which can brick the car, and ICCU issues which means the car may derate or fail during AC charging because it’s overheating. I assume both manufacturers are working to fix their own issues.

🤣🤣 $80K for a plastic buzz with only low 200 mile range! that will be worth $20k the second you drive it of the LOT! Charging at EA, a vw product that only works 10% of the time on a good day! SOOO MANY SUCKERS IN AMERICA! This is why AMERICA IS GREAT! PLENTY OF in debt SUCKERS consumers willing to get in MORE DEBT! 🤣🤣 MAGA! 🤣🤣
@LifeAfterLosing2 сағат бұрын
@ because it’s Chinese developed. Also, with over the air updates, the Kia could be improved tomorrow. That’s the great thing about newer cars. Hyundai and Kia learn fast and will update it.

I chose the Buzz over the EV9. Really wanted the kia but the vw roominess, van heritage and culture won over better range, all wheel drive and v2d.

Regarding removable bin, it's needed for the campervan or executive bus version where you want front seats that can rotate to face rearwards towards a meeting table or become a bed. 😎😇
