I finally got the one I ordered last June a week ago. Took 13 months but IMO it was worth the wait. I am absolutely floored at how good this truck is for the money. I got the stripped down XL with only the full size spare and the tow bar as options. I am so glad I got the hybrid over the ecoboost. Paid sticker price and have already had two offers over $32K to buy it from me. I guess my only complaint is that I wasn't smart enough to order two of them!

The CVT is not a traditional Belt Driven CVT. Its closely related to the Toyota's E-CVT or Power Split Device, it's an electric motor/generator coupled to a Planetary Gearset to give you the Constant Velocity Gear Ratio's, not a Belt and Pulley System like traditional CVT's. Look into videos on the Toyota E-CVT by Weber Automotive, he does a really good job at explaining how they work.

I've had the hybrid XL for about a month(ordered on 6/16/21). I'm averaging about 40mpg combined. I got the co-pilot 360 pkg(gives you a real spare tire) which I highly recommend. I also got the sprayed in bed liner and folding tonneau cover. I was one of the ones wondering when there would be a hybrid powered pick up truck, so when Ford announced it, I jumped right on it. I feel like hybrid technology has been mastered by Ford, and I already own a KIA hybrid Optima. It's nice filling the gas tank and having somewhere between 500-600 miles of range. The Maverick has not disappointed.

I'm waiting on my Maverick. I went with the gas Lariat. I may be thinking I made a mistake and should have gone with the hybrid. the hybrid can tow 2,000 which would work with my row boat or canoe. The wait is brutal. My truck was supposed to be delivered in April. Now I'm waiting ten months at least.

Did you get adaptive cruise control with the co-pilot 360. The says in the video at 10:30 you get it with all trim levels but it looks like you only get those 2 features with the lariat according to the website.

One quick note at 10:20: Adaptive Cruise Control is available only on the Lariat Luxury Package, which takes a decent chunk of change to get up there.

The Hybrid isn't 1.5L, it's 2.5L. Same as the Escape Hybrid powertrain.

Yes I noticed that. Tried and true. This configuration was also used on the first generation Fusions. I have 2.5 atkinson cycle in my 2010.

Ford has done America a big favor by producting this truck. I had ordered one last summer and will get it this May. I'm still wondering how they can manage to sell it so cheap, and of course, harboring some doubts. But after watching so many clips in KZbin, I think this is a good deal. I really enjoyed the presentation. Just what I wanted to know more about the truck and I got it. Thanks.

For most people, escape hybrid would still be a better choice, especially if you need to haul people or pet in the back. The rear seat room of this truck is pretty small.

@@loriallen67 I wouldn't call it an advantage over hev for the higher price of phev. And phev have their own set of issues such as smaller gas tank, fuel spoilage issue, etc. Phev engine runs less, but you still have to change oil on similar schedule as hev because oil will go bad even if not using it. And phev, although you can plug in, their charging rate is usually way lower than pure EV. I'd rather to have an EV that I only need to charge once a week for commute, other than phev I need to plug in every night, especially when they are sold for same price. The biggest benefit of maverick here is the price. Like the "straight pipe" dudes said, this is a perfect granny vehicle for yard work. Low deck and low side walls for reaching in (trust me, I'm 6'2 and I hate reaching into the bed on my f150), small to maneuver and small to park.

Cute little truck!!! I am partial to the Maverick name!!!! My first car was a Maverick!!! Burnt orange with black strips down sides and hood!!! It was a used 1970 model!!!! But to a teenager it was the most awesome thing ever!!!! I had taken driver's ed my senior year and it was my gift!!! I loved that little car!!!! Drove it thru nursing school and a couple of years working until I was able to get another car!!!! Passed it down to my brother and he drove it several years!!!! He then sold it to a friend!!!! So tho this truck is not named from the original the name brings back lots of good memories!!!! So good luck to the new Maverick!!!!! 👍

I ordered a Maverick Lariat Hybrid First Edition. I got it 5 weeks ago. This is one absolutely AMAZING vehicle. I get great mpg! The tech is great, as are the safety features. It's quick enough for interstate driving. Heated seats, heated steering wheel, remote start from my phone or fob. Truly an amazing comfortable economical vehicle. I've hauled 12 sheets of 1/2" plywood like a pro. Couldn't ask for a better vehicle for my job. Just as useful as my 4 door Tacoma but more than double the mpg. Way more than double.

I just bought an XL last week, I love this vehicle. The ride is awesome, plenty of power, great milage, excellent visibility. I've owned many pick-ups, Ford and Chevy. My Maverick replace a very well appointed 2018 Chevy Colorado V6. There is no comparison, I'm amazed at the ride this truck offers, it is connected to the road like no other PU I've driven. The Maverick is a driving experience you have to try. I no longer need a full size Pick-up, the Maverick files the gap between mid size PUT and full size perfectly. Get one of these great rides as soon as you can. I have 35 no 38 added resons for purchasing this PU, it's, 35-38 miles per gallon.

I put my name on a call list at my local dealership. It’s not in common to have a customer fall out of a deal upon delivery for any number of reasons. In my case the dealer obtained 6 XLs they fleet ordered for a municipality. When these vehicles arrived I was notified that one was available. Keep in mind though, this negates MSRP, therefore they mark up the price by 8 to 10 percent. I fell for it, but I’m glad I did I love this truck.

Check specs you get cruse control on xlt and lariat. Adaptive cruse is only on the lariat w/lux and 360...No cruse option on xl.

Awesome vehicle. I have a 2010 Escape Hybrid that has basically the same powertrain. This one is just modernized and brought up to date. 96,000 miles, 12 years old, still running PERFECTLY getting 34 MPG. And it cost more: in 2010, a Limited Hybrid was around $33,500. That's $44 grand or so today. This car takes that technology, adds a little power, a little better mileage, it tows more, it hauls more and it's less money in real dollars. You can get a fully max-out Lariat with a bed cap that costs the same amount of equivalent money as the 2010 Limited did, or less. And you have a pickup truck bed! Great Job Ford!

It’s a truck bro. With that being said you said you’d consider it a car but you called it a truck all video long and never a car 😂. I love mine btw. I’ve hit 65 mpg on one trip in the city. Lots of 50+ mpg. Mixed driving I usually get 42-44 mpg. 34-38 mpg driving 80 mph.

The debate stems from the fact that this is unibody vehicle (car). But vehicles with beds are trucks. But trucks are body on frame. It's both a car and a truck. Which is good.

I own a Fusion hybrid, and rented a newer version of the same a few years ago, and could see in that car the progress that Ford had made with this powertrain in a few years. When they made this truck - with the same 2.5 hybrid engine as the base powertrain - available to order last summer, and after studying what you could get on it, I could see that it was a niche vehicle that I had to have. Ordered in the fall, and after 5 months, I’m still waiting. This isn’t yet being built at the production rate of the bigger pickups, but I’m thinking that it should be, and it could help to coax many pickup drivers into a “partially” electric vehicle, at way less cost than a Lightning or Mach e. Ford - are you listening? The base $21k truck (XL) can’t be built with cruise control, but you can add it via aftermarket. Good review Kyle and co.!

Yea, I'd say ford really underestimated the hybrid. I have a sonata hybrid that is in the same class as your fusion hybrid. Although I love my sonata, and the interior of this maverick is made out of cheap recycled plastic and a small infotainment screen and something else, the useability is really good, especially it can get not much worse MPG than my current sedan. And the MSRP just made me cannot be picky on any of the things I've mentioned. Yes, XL can add aftermarket CC, or even more, you can buy an Escape steering wheel and use Forscan to flip some switches to make it work. There's a full tutorial on the forum now.

I'm absolutely in love with this truck. I love how compact it is so it's easier to park and maneuver than other trucks. I also like how useful the interior is. Many new cars have so many unnecessary features that many people don't use and it just makes the car cost more. The great fuel economy is also a huge plus for me, even the 2.0L Ecoboost engine with all wheel drive gets good gas mileage, that's how efficient this truck is. When these trucks become more readily available and dealers stop marking them up, I'll definitely be getting one.

Bought a F150 XL 8/20, ordered a Maverick XLT 10/15. I'm sure that the Maverick will fit my everyday better than the occasional needs of a full size pick up. Not sure when it will arrive (small dealership in rural GA), can't get here soon enough. Great review

In may (?) My daughter who lives in Mesa Az called around local dealers, left her number and within 2 weeks a dealer called her said he had a cancellation and sold a new Maverick to her on the spot. MSRP. Her husband commutes a long drive every day and loves his new Maverick. Absolutely loves it. Mike is an Engineer and just got a promotion. Company pays for a new car with the stipulation it would hold 4 comfortably and be sturdy enough to visit construction sites, plus the long commute, its like Ford designed the perfect vehicle with Mike in mind.

I agree with the headline. But, I'm was first on a three month wait. Now it's ten months from the end of the three month. I may cancel my order and just drive my Prius Prime. I need a small hauler that can also light tow. This is the perfect truck for my needs. But, like everything else they just aren't being brought in to the dealers.

There are massive dealer markups. My brother's neighbor ordered a Maverick when they 1st became available. Paid MSRP, done deal. Recently it arrived and the dealer offered them $10K to let the dealer keep it! They took the truck thou.

It's a pickup. Truck or car, if it has a bed, it picks up things. This category is compact pickup or mini truck imo. Agree the hybrid is the real gold. Hopefully they last a long time. I am going to order the 2023 in carbonized grey XL hybrid. They might fix a few of the kinks and more accessories are going to be available.

Unfortunately the stand-alone Co-Pilot360 package doesn’t come with adaptive cruise. You need to step all the way up to the Lariat and add the Luxury package to get adaptive cruise

Ordered the same blue hybrid with sunroof and copilot long time ago, expected delivery in may. Got the vin number…. Can't wait. I have few concerns though, one of them is theft.. where is the catalyc converter located, how is the lock system work, how bad/good is the anti theft system? Even if it is a cheap vehicle, I might going to add satellite tracking, and a third party alarm. Cars are hard find these days, if you get your maverick stolen especially an hybrid, good luck getting another one before the end of the year. Mine will definitely be parked in the garage at night…

I currently carpool with someone who owns a Nissan Frontier. I think it’s a 2014. The back seats are terrible in that the seatbacks are ramrod straight. How’s the backseat of the Maverick? Any built-in angle? Or, dare I hope, any ability to recline?

Some other reviewers in other videos mentioned that the plastic dash looked cheap,well let me rectify that comment.I saw a video where they interview the Ford chief interior designer for the Maverick and the reason for that is Ford listened to it's customers that they wanted a vehicule with more eco-friendly materials so part of the dash is from recycled plastic.So not cheap.I would say more eco friendly.

Traded my Model 3 to buy a Maverick Hybrid XLT off the lot. It was a lucky find. My first truck and probably the only vehicle I would have considered going back to ICE for. I would love an EV version but I wanted a truck and there just isn’t anything available there yet. The price tag on the Lightning and Silverado scare me off from a full-size even when they are available. This sits in a really sweet spot and I have no problem letting our other family vehicle be an EV or PHEV to offset my carbon emissions from the Maverick. If Ford built an fully EV version I’d be first in line though.

Unless you luck out and the 2.0L ecoboost engine and AWD options were already on it! My CLT was $41,500! What made it doable is that I got $21,500 for my ‘21 Corolla SE!

Well, this was very interesting. High mileage while not having to worry about running out of power. (I know , don’t really need to worry but still do). To o bad like everything else it’s constrained.

I just ordered a 2023 Maverick Lariat on Saturday. Ford opened the orders for the 2023 Ford Maverick last Wednesday and the orders close this week… maybe even tomorrow (maybe as soon as 9/21/22). If you want to order a 2023 you should get in there as soon as you can this week.

Co pilot 360 doesnt include ACC with the mav, its only avalible on the lariat trim. for 2022.

If you read into it, the hybrid system is actually a better version of the one in the plug in Escape...so all it really needs is a lot larger battery pack and the electronics to make it work///from what i've read. I'd love a plug in awd model.

@@Matt-dx3wo Under the current Federal tax credits, the battery would need to be 16Kw or larger to qualify for the $7500. I was able to get the full $7500 on a Honda Clarity (17Kw battery) a few years ago.

Just like my 2016 Chevy Volt. I drove 58 miles today. 44 of those were all electric and I had 9 miles left, staying soft on the pedal. I drove 14 miles with the gas generator. I used .33 gallons of gas.

It’s a small truck it’s not for heavy duty use what are you expect but this video really shows how useful this little truck can be, and still look good in it

Your comment about Co-Pilot360 is incorrect. Only Co-Pilot 360+ has Adaptive Cruise and its only available as an option on the Lariat WITH Luxury package.

They do come with tow hitch from the factory on lower trims. My Lariat, without LUX I had to add as an option for a bank busting 100 dollars from the factory! It's a Non issue...

Also adaptive cruise control, you can only get it on Lariat trim with the Lux package. And the XL model can't get regular Cruise Control at all. Still a great package for the money, but potential buyers need to have the right info.

Adaptive cruise can only be added to the Lariat. The co-pilot 360 can be added to the XLT but the adaptive cruise control is not an option. So you get the other features of co-pilot 360 including cruise control but not adaptive.

I am 5' 11" and it's boarder line when I am sitting behind myself. The Maverick is great ..... amazing, I hope is reliable!!! Time will show. I have the base XL $19900 and I am impressed!

@@KB-bh9hp Outside of Toyota maybe, but they're very similar in function (both use e-CVTs, ford licensed the e-CVT tech from Toyota iirc). I'd expect a Toyota engine to outlast an equivalent ford engine however.

And the A/C and the fuel pump motor and the injectors and the exhaust system and the electric per steering motor and every electrical connector on the vehicle.. especially ABS and TC areas where it's especially prone to corrosion. You simply can't ever turn a Ford into a Toyota or Honda no matter your skills in miracle happenings.

BTW You sure look relaxed when driving around Boulder. How about the Hwy 36 to and from Boulder? Since it's like the Indy 500. So, truly how does this Maverick work out when mashed on the gas on HWY 36? How about driving up the I-70 towards the tunnels? Does the Maverick have enough torque to beat out most cars at a red light when mashing on it?

Are there any dangers about driving the hybrid through high water because of the underneath battery? I live in an area where I can suddenly find myself in flooded areas (im guessing 12 to 20 inches of water) that I have no choice but to drive through

The connectors should be waterproof, the real danger is rusting out the bottom.

I had a 92 Toyota pickup and have a 2008 Outback. If I could put the best features them together, the Maverick would be the result, but with Apple Car Play, better MPG and an easier to access rear seat.
