GM makes nice EVs, like Ford and Rivian. But the problem is that they're losing bucket loads of money on them. And pilling a huge battery pack on them doesn't help the cost of production. GM needs to build an EV from the ground up, improve EV production technology, like Rivian's doing, and get to scale. I'm pulling for you GM. Don't retreat.

🤔...great video guys with great energy together. With the vehicles coming out please keep in mind that the regular everyday consumer isn't looking for the 0 to 60 times. They are looking for a reasonable price, features and range for everyday use. Take that into account when you both come from higher performance EVs but they don't deliver on range or features for the higher price you pay

Right? The assumption that DC fast charging is a killer....most folks drive 20-30 miles a day and might need DC charging a couple times a year tops. With a 320 mile range and 3.5 miles per kwh I could charge off my existing 20amp 120v outlet in my garage for everyday use and not even need a 240v charger installed. With just the 120v outlet you get 7mph charging. Sitting in the garage over night for 12 hrs that's 80 miles of range. My wife drives 5 miles each way to work and could do that charge once every 2 weeks 😂. There are hundreds of thousands of people that could drive that way their entire lives. It's the same as doing 0-60 times in SUV or minivan reviews. Interesting data but not relevant 99% of the time.

@@MrJbart1981 Totally agree with you. I own a 2015 Nissan Leaf S-trim. @131k miles I was greedy enough to purchase and had professionally installed a 62kWh Nissan battery pack to replace the OEM 24 kWh (83%SoH). The Leaf inexplicably lost the use of the Chademo, but with all the battery potential energy, I merely needed to plug into the wall 120-Volt outlet for my daily needs. With 180 miles range (highway speeds and climbing to 5,000' mtn pass) I can use 240- Volt commercial charger four hours at my destination to complete a roundtrip. My current work commute is merely four miles each way... so days go by before the battery pack SoC goes below 50%. Of course, it takes two days and nights to bring it from 50 to 100% @ 120-Volt wall plug. Mostly I charge it to 70 - 90%.

Give me a car that will go four hundred miles on a charge and I would even accept a nine second zero to sixty acceleration time. Not everyone needs a slot car but we all need to get where we’re going without stopping to charge up a few times every day just to get to work and home. My understanding is that you get Maps for 8 years but the apps data plan is only 3 years. After that you need to pay for a data plan for the apps or maybe tether your phone. Not sure how convenient tethering your phone is, might be fine. I think reviewers need to start commenting on this because as Kyle says the apps are a big part of the experience. I drove the Blazer and was impressed at how massive the center screen is. The horsepower on the Blazer AWD felt adequate for me. I like the knobs and switches. I disagree with Kyle about the shifter. It was the one thing that felt cheap to me and I wasn’t crazy about how it functioned. Not a big deal, but a minus for me. If you test drive this, try to get the dealership to show you the apps, when I test drove the Blazer the salesman said it wasn’t ready to show the apps. I’m hoping that they have a quick way to show you how the Google system works that doesn’t require you to log in or create some kind of account. I called the dealership and wasn’t able to get ahold of someone who could explain the various plans that come with this car. That’s a problem.

I think you nailed it! Especially the market for these kind of vehicles now is criss crossing into ICE market share which GM wants. These buyers may not care about 0-60 performance and.have practicality in mind. If GM can conquer this segment by nailing this benefit and keeping the price comparable to the competition ICE vehicles while reassuring EV negative public perspective then and only then will these start overtaking ICE vehicles. I like that they sell both and offer consumers the choice to cross shop between the ICE and EV counterparts.

Supply the reference of 62C battery temperatures in a Tesla! Teslas have the most efficient heatpump system in an EV with the Octovalve design ensuring the battery is bought to optimum charging temperature of 40C before the car arrives at the charger and limiting to 45C during charging. During normal driving the temperature is kept in the 15-30C range. The cooling system in BEVs is a prime area where engineering expertize shows. See the videos on the Ford mess at Munro teardown. and comments on the Hyundai three system approach... With CATL and BYD packs rated at over a million kilometres, GM should not be worried about limiting charging rates! Unless their hvac is sub par... We've had our Equinox EV on lease for about 2 weeks so far. A few weird things we're not crazy about, but overall very pleased with it. The CarPlay/AndroidAuto being gone is a bummer, the drive modes don't feel like they do anything, and at highway speeds there is a little vibration in the steering wheel. Not sure if a tire is out of balance or what. But we drove it from 100% down to 15% between the Wednesday we picked it up and that Sunday. Total of 270 miles or so, with an estimated 55 miles remaining. So the range is good, does way better using cruise control everywhere which is something I need to get use to.

Living in the country in a county with only a rumor of one public charging station maybe existing (haven't looked for it), the hybrid is the way to go for me for now. Anyone who pays more for one of these than a Y, is a fool lol. @@PowerNGlory you make a valid point on that. But speaking from actual experience.. never been a real problem. Tesla sends a tech to you on the rare occasion you need a little something fixed. But to gain all the things you gain out of a really good EV.. not just a Tesla these days.. though they are probably the best bang for the buck, by far still. There are other good EVs.. specifically Kia/Hyundai’s. Though i’m not sure how their prices match up right now. But to pay $45k for an upscale version of this Chevy and pass on Model Y with more of just about everything, for less $.. i get your point that people still have some fear of going with a Tesla for various reasons.. all i can tell you is, as a guy who came from Cadillac and lots of nice German cars.. Tesla trounces them.. hands down.. not even close.. I wouldn’t trade my 7 year old Tesla for any new EV I’ve seen yet.. for various reasons. So from my perspective.. peoples reticence is unwarranted.. and to pay more for something that is significantly less.. i find foolish. Nobody does regen better than Tesla and nobody does brake blending better than Porsche. Honestly, I like Tesla's approach, where picking up the foot from the accelerator pedal means braking and brakes pedal is 100% friction brakes.

With the way Chevy's lease deals are right now, you can spec a really nice one with lots of the bells and whistles for a great lease payment! With the way EVs depreciate, leasing should really be the way to go. Just leased a Sterling Gray 2RS FWD and it is amazing!

I got a 2025 Equinox EV AWD and it is very fast. I get 4 wheel rubber at 30 mph. Could likely be faster with softer tires that grip better. But I stopped doing that, no need to kill my tires.

Comment on the 31:50 timestamp: It is true that the Bolt's regen paddle is an on/off switch, and you can't modulate the amount of regen with the paddle. But there is a workaround that not many people know. You can pull the paddle and modulate the amount of regen by using the accelerator peddle. It sounds counterintuitive, but try pulling the regen paddle before letting go of the accelerator pedal. Then slowly letting off the accelerator pedal for a gentler stop. Think of the regen paddle as a one peddle mode switch that will turn off as soon as you let go. It is probably the same for the Equinox EV.

As we get Chevys here in the UK, I do hope this one comes over. I, for one, will be looking to change my EV for another in 2025, and this one ticks all the boxes. So please, GM, send them over to the UK in right-hand drive. I, for one, would put an order in for one. It looks stylish and has all the gizmos mine has. Mine does have self-parking. I'm not sure if there is an option on this model, but even if it doesn't, I would still get one.

I like the base models most often because they have fewer unnecessary options to break. We have an AWD Ioniq 5 SE, same battery and HP as the high end models but no sunroof/glass roof (someone paid $4000 to have their fixed after it shattered), no power liftgate (there are issues with rattles and noise on them) and longer range and cheaper tires with the 19" wheels vs the 21s on the limited. A few years ago I wanted the Equinox but bought the Ioniq 5 since this kept getting delayed and we still have android auto.

We had a base Captiva Sport, essentially the same as an Equinox. I can see many people with either sliding forward into this EV as a natural replacement. “Fast enough” for many watching the price and similar performance. I have a Y dual-motor now, so it would seem a bit too slow for me. But I like the look of the interior and the dual and large displays, and of course legendary GM air conditioning power. I think they will eventually sell a lot of them. Nice quick take, Kyle.
