First time you passed the candy store I knew you were coming back and I didn’t know you had your son with you. You’re just that kind of Dad and you seem to get what’s important in this life.

Wow, $45.00 that’s a lot of sugar meltdowns to deal with. Every time we pass a candy store, we buy candy for the kids…but my gosh, I also think to myself, the arguments and meltdowns this candy will produce, is pretty remarkable too. I guess it’s worse for 4 year olds than older kids. Good for this guy, stopping in and building those memories that good food creates, especially candy.

It's very special, kind of a privilege, when you get to handle rare wood. It's also a joy, and a delight, when you can pass it on to someone who understands the value of the wood.

What a beautiful video. Have watched it before, but now it was even more touching. With all the shit going on around us, it was such a relief to be back in your carpentry barn, listening to you quietly talk about pith, crotches and measuring the log, only to finish with you and Bruno walking back, peaceful and everyday like, to the car after shopping candy. A wonderful reminder of what is important, of the humanity and of the little things it is so important that we treasure and that we take care of. Bless you and your family, stay safe and stay genuine. 💐

@@OutoftheWoods0623 Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. ---The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost

On the farm we had an old 60 inch circular saw. For a cabinet or furniture maker, we would quarter saw a log like that by turning it ninety degrees then turning it back to the starting position. Give them everything except the bark slabs and let them worry about the pith. The only way we ever made money on the sawmill was to cut RXR crossties. The railroad is always buying and pays more if you deliver a 100 or more at a time.
