I noticed that you use a wide blade mud knife to clean off sawdust when looking at fresh cuts. Do you find that scratches the boards more that a bench brush or something softer?

@@mstrdiver the knife wouldn’t scratch that much. Been there with sawdust, and that’s the fastest, easiest way to clean sawdust. Any type of brush isn’t going to get the sawdust off.

I truly want to thank you for taking these logs and making slabs to create something beautiful out of them. This means to me the life of the tree wasn’t wasted. When some of the trees are cut down it’s for developers, because they don’t want to leave them up. They just rip the trees down. The developers don’t realize the trees are a living thing. I know sometimes a tree dies, it must be removed. But, again you make the life of a tree worthwhile. Thank you for the videos, I know they are hard work, and I see what you do is hard but, it sure should give you satisfaction. You have such a talent for knowing what to do, and how to do the job. Good luck to you.

I had the opportunity to meet a guy in our area that cut a lot of Western Oregon Black Walnut. He was a well known bow maker and rifle stock carver. He told me when I visited him that he would cut the tree down and sell off that lumber. But what he was after was the root. He would dig that out because that's where the figure is. I've seen his stocks and I think he's right. Maybe you've heard of him his last name was Keasey.

Your enthusiasm is infectious! Part of the reason I watch!---But, I'm a true 'knot' lover, and am always eagle-eyed when you open a slab to see if there's any knots visible!---And I was happy to catch that flash to the camera of the knot wood you trimmed before pitchin' 'em!

That last slab when wet actually gave off the illusion of depth. The crotch appeared as if it was tapering down 10-12". Am I exaggerating? I have never seen a piece of wood like it. Experience has certainly given you an eye for detecting that something rare and special is about to be revealed. The handwork of God is something to behold.

You have a great personality for exactly this pastime and for doing vids of it. Very enjoyable. I would like to say though, that the most enjoyable part of this one was where you say "I'm gonna have to take a break from the videos to sharpen some blades. I have about 50 of them back there that need sharpening. Maybe I'll make a video of that for you guys!" THAT, my friend, was awesome! Happy spring to ya from Pennsylvania.

Another enjoyable video. Have you ever thought of placing 2 line projecting lasers high on your saw frame? When adjusted to to the sawing limits and parallel you could see your sawing limits at a glance.
