Hey Nathan, I am a weatherman and I almost hardly ever made a bad forecast...those who know me would say, "That's a shocker." A forecaster's lament: my hits, no one remembers, my misses, no one forgets. Don't worry though, we weather geeks can take the heat.!

I had a Frick circle mill running a 60 inch set tooth and ring blade. Sawing some beautiful red oak on day and ran across an insulator, you know the brown ceramic ones they use in power lines? Yeah one of those..... made a crazy fire show and I had 50 holes in the shed roof and back wall where the teeth and rings flew out. I am one lucky SOB because I had several tears in my big ole Carhartt jacket that went all the way through the arms and I found 3 teeth stuck in my overalls. Why they stopped is a mystery because the ones in the back of the shed went through some 1 inch white pine that I used as wall material. Fun times at the mill man fun times at the mill... Thanks for stirring up old memories of times I loved and for the time it takes to create, script, shoot, edit and UL these videos so I can live vicariously through you sir!!!

Man, oh man!!! What gorgeous wood you brought out of that tree! In the last 3-4 weeks, I've been building some nice projects with a batch of cherry bark oak I've been hoarding for 50+ years...and seeing the grain in those boards when you took them off the mill just makes me salivate. All I need is a stack of greenbacks, some time, and a truck so I could come pick up a load of those after they come out of your kiln. TERRIFIC work, once again! ~Dr. Larry S. What's the count of people commenting saying you should get a stud detector or other metal detecting device at now? Some foreign objects in wood aren't obvious until after it's too late! I've heard there are saw blades out there that can handle a nail and still need only minimal sharpening. Not sure if they're within your budget, but you work well with what you have on hand! Some excellent grain in these wooden boards!

I couldn't help but think "he don't know I actually would love to have twenty inch wide boards with all that fleck on it". Kinda breaks my heart a little. ;-) Flat sawn oak is just sad stuff my friend...speaking as a furniture maker that is.

I work in the countryside in the UK. I was talking to some woodmen one day and they showed me a piece of beech . It had been 'branded' with a military regimental badge. The bark had grown over it and it was found a few inches inside the tree trunk. On further investigation it was found to be a 'Free French' insignia. They were based in the area in WW2 and were training in tanks for D Day.

Love this channel, speaking of metal in a tree i was removing a very gangly old pussywillow at a retired persons property. In the centre of the tree , much to my surprise was a t bar post probably the original stake from 60 years ago. I was using a husky 36 and it tore the chain right off pulling the saw out of my hands. Note to others pay attention to older trees and shrubs sometimes they fight back.
