Follow me along as I see 8 patients for the day! This week has been hectic for me as I was getting ready to leave for vacation. I normally do not see 8 patients in 1 day unless I need to and as a last resort. I have been working as a home health nurse the last 4-5 months and I have learned so much! Home care is my specialty and if you guys are interested in home care, follow along!
Thank you all for the support and watching my growth as a nurse. If you have any questions, you can always reach out to me on instagram @kriziaann__

Thank you guys for watching! It has officially been 4-5 months since starting my job as a home health nurse. There are definitely a lot of pros and cons that I have learned! My next video will be talking about how to choose the right home health agency, different pay options, schedule, flexibility, etc. Subscribe so you don't miss the next video!

Love your videos and I subscribed already to learn more. As a new grad BSN RN and mom that's the route I'm interested for more flexibility with my toddler and schedule rather than bedside nursing for now. Thank you and keep encouraging us.

Watching your videos, I'm actually so excited to work in Home health because there is so much opportunity for education so you also end up reinforcing the ideas for yourself and knowing your info on a greater level, where in the hospital time was so short that it felt like education was not given sufficiently. It also seems you have more time to learn hands-on without being incredibly rushed. I felt like as a new grad I was swamped in the hospital with admits and discharges, that sometimes actually skills were pushed to the side because of all of the ADL care we were doing vs. getting to practice skills, such as wound care.

Hi Krizia. I'm a newer nurse of only 10 months experience in the ICU. I applied to some home health jobs and I already got an interview soon! I work fulltime hours at the hospital and I was wondering if you think doing home health on the side would be doable? I was actually considering quitting ICU because it's so stressful :( sometimes I feel dreadful before coming into work. I'm still new so I still try to remind myself to give myself time and forgive myself for mistakes, but the stress does get to me sometimes. When I watch your videos I feel at ease seeing how much less stressful home care appears compared to bedside, and it looks like something I would love (maximizing pt interaction without being on my feet back and forth and feeling rushed to provide care for 12hrs).

I have to say from the bottom of my heart that every CNAS,LPN,RN and ARNPs really deserve more credit then they actually receive as much credit as PAs or doctors get.My philosophy is that the Doctors wright the prescriptions the LPN and or RN s administer the medications and tend to the patients 24 hours a day where as PAs and Doctors are only making rounds on the hospital wards for 8 to 10 hours a day.

OMG!! I've never seen blood coag readers like that, like a glucometer!!! That'll be a life changer for all the people I see on warfarin! Avoids all those blood tests, esp.when their INR is unstable or they're starting out. Actually i wish ALL blood tests are just a fingerprick like this in the near future! Makes me less scared of getting old if it is haha

Do you ever have to go in to the office for anything besides picking up supplies? It looks like you usually just chart / prep at home and then head out.

Would you recommend doing this as a new grad? I like the freedom but scared of the autonomy and being alone in a pts home .
@nurse_krizia
@nurse_krizia 2 жыл бұрын
I do! It is a big learning curve and it’s a slower paced environment. I have time to prepare before I see my patients such as reviewing their H&P, creating a plan on what to do, and watching videos on skills I need to brush up on. It is scary but has taught me a lot on critical thinking!

Wow, Krizia... Great job navigating the day! So how does an elderly patient get signed up for Home Health? Is it free?
@nurse_krizia
@nurse_krizia 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! An elderly gets signed up through an order by an MD. The visits are covered through the insurance. Other services provided are PT, OT, ST and home health aides for daily ADL/baths.

It depends! If I have a long break in between patients or have a short day, I eat at home. If I’m busy and don’t have time to go home, I’ll eat out and spend around $10-20.
