So I quit at first because I was new and wouldn't unlock korg because I couldn't get a monthly item because I didn't have gold orbs horded because I was a new player. I came back because venom, my favorite character, was getting a rework. I've been grinding for a year to catch back up and felt like I was making progress, even though new accounts could catch up to me in a fraction of the time. I'm now back to that feeling with korg, and I'm going to stick it out for about a month, but if I fall too far behind then I don't see the point anymore. Games are supposed to be fun and this doesn't seem fun. I don't even get to use my favorite character that I came back for because he was the weakest rework on the team.😢

This is extremely similar to CSR racing. I quit after years because of the greed and ridiculous prices they charged to do much of anything. Unfortunately after much griping from players,they changed nothing. Just started playing MSF again after years and hope this doesn't continue.

I’m F2P, was a spender, but because of what they’ve done, I’ve pulled even spending on battle passes. Tired of Scopely becoming EA and Bungie and Blizzard with the micro transactions and such…I’m getting most of the way to some of the characters, Thanos Endgame is the only one so far that I haven’t been able to get many shards; I have more for Sentinel which is kinda weird, but oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️

What's annoying is the fact that I was in the 50ish range before I got Thanos, and then when I unlocked up I went straight to the Top 5, so you need to be high in arena to get Thanos, and you need Thanos to get high in the arena.

If you think delaying access to toons for 1 to 2 months is fine, I'm sorry, but you don't understand how this game works. Being that late to compete in key modes such arena, cc or raids will drastically reduce the amount of key rewards (gear, gold, cores...)and by the time you might catch up a new meta shall arrive that shuts you down again never been able to close the gap.

I quit the game a month ago and I'm so happy I did. I felt like I was constantly trying to keep up with the meta and with the annihilators release ruined my chances of staying in a good spot in arena. In literally a couple months, this game became 90% pay2play. The big management devs are putting this game in the toilet with their greed and I'm so happy I left when I did.

My problem with the game is the RNG. I work hard to get Annihilator orbs then RNG gives me 0-1 shards per the daily 5-6 orbs from the Arena.

Beside from the character unlocking, they need to fix the game crashing, it is happening a lot more than before, it come to a point it is unplayable. I can’t count how many time it crash on Raid, Dark dimension, arena and war

Scopely just doesn’t care about the game. They just care about money. There is a way to be more successful if you care about the game and making money. Right now, there are so many ppl leaving the game, it’s kinda crazy. Our alliance always has at least 1 war a week with 2-3 Shield Officers.

As a $300 CAD/month spender, in their efforts to force me into becoming a $500/month spender they aren't going to get more money from me, they are going to get less. At $300/month, my purchases feel like a luxury I am treating myself to, but at $500/month that money would be better spent buying a new car. They have sucked all the enjoyment out of my $300/month spend, and the trickle orbs are a constant daily slap in the face. If $300/month isn't a big enough spend on the game to make it a fun experience, the solution is not to spend more, but to walk away instead. $500/month would let me max out ten other mobile games, so they are pushing players away who will become committed to other games and by the time they roll back this cash grab fiasco it will be too later to get those former spenders back as they will be playing other new games already.

8:55 I don’t think that’s true. I think ppl will have the character unlocked before the pass finishes, if not before the pass even comes out. The pass will expedite pass buyers getting to 4* (in the pass) and 5* afterwards before f2p. Basically, ppl who buy offers have the biggest lead/advantage. Pass buyers will be behind those players, but have a lead/advantage over f2p.

I think another one of the negatives to come out of this, is that the “slow drip” mentality of “new” toon unlocks that Scopley is promoting for F2P players, is made worse by continuing the rapid “Next New Toy” toon. By the time the 1st is unlocked nobody is excited about them anymore

I have come to grips that I will not be at the top. I know that they will cater to people spending 100s a week for new characters so they can stay at the top. I only pay for premium battle and strike pass and might stop with battle premium. Scopely is just banking on getting more money from the heavy spenders so they can satisfy that need to stay on top. I am comfortable with being in the higher middle.

Look they don't care about the players. Highly engaged players can't gets rewards if they don't have access to the new characters. That's the system they've set up. Every single game mode, except the hated Blitz requires new characters to win, and the no rewards Real-Time Arena. The only way you can win is with those new characters. They said in the blog, which is what I'm going to go by. Every month they'll do an event to unlock ONE new character a month after the initial pay release. Not the whole team. It would be up to the 4 month mark before an entire new team is available. They want you to buy the characters or they want you to use all your cores on characters so you can't hoard for the events anymore and that way the Whales and Krakens will have more access to the rewards. Based on what some of the other content creators have said they don't consider buying the all the Passes every month as enough. They want you to buy those and every new character upon release so that's over $200 a month on a game that has three new characters and maybe one unique event every other month. I was a Pass buyer, I will not be moving forward.

My biggest issue with this game is the events are level-gated. Im 40 shards away on unlocking gladiator but its locked behind Cosmic Crucible. They should make an event accessible to newer players. Not to mention leveling up on this game is abysmally slow. Seems like scopely is not satisfied on punishing old players but keeps new players from staying as well

I use to never have to core for characters. If I didn’t core for annihilators I would not have Gorr or endgame Thanos. I’d barely have gladiator unlocked. I do appreciate the up in arena cores but still. It feels really bad. I miss scourges.

I always appreciate your content and positive attitude. It's definitely hard to stay positive with these changes. As an indie game developer, I watch other indie developers stake their livelihood on convincing people to buy a $20 game with dozens of hours of uniquely creative gameplay. As a gamer and Marvel fan, I am appalled by the value proposition of spending $50 just to collect a character only to find myself still walled out of exclusive content when another $50 character drops mere weeks later. The asymmetry is staggering between indie games and corporate F2P games. MSF has devolved into a predatory business model that I refuse to engage with. When I fall behind to the point I no longer enjoy playing and quit, I will miss your content more than the game.

I'd quit around when Bionic Avengers were new. Just came back during the Illuminati stuff. I'm surprised by how much old and stale content there is in the game. Daily Challenges, RTA, the events where we need Skill/Military, Knowhere Heist, etc...all of that needs to be updated. Scopely can take their 1 raid energy and shove it.

About a year ago now, I picked the game back up again after about 2 years away and saw the game was heading in a much better direction and I did not buy any xtreme x-men except for athe Nightcrawler battle pass and have them all at 1 diamond now, but after X-treme came out, I watched all the good they were doing in the game with the subsequent teams just wash away over the past 9 months, it has been upsetting that they are going this route and I have had enough of the silver surfer shards and also the piss poor RNG I've had in this game, at no point in the 4 1/2 years have I played have i ever been able to pull a x100 orb from coring or orb shards(not talking about mega orbs) events. the odds of that happening by now I should have at least gotten lucky. That's the worst part, not to mention you can no longer grind for mega orb shards like when it first released so im just stuck with 1,408 mega orb shards that will never be made whole and any plea to get it made whole, I have never gotten a response to.Scopely will probably continue to do things like this to keep us engaged. where they will do some good things then wash it away and just go in cycles with good decision/bad decision periods every year.

The problem is Scoeply wants to increase its revenue, the changes they’ve made only achieves this short term with a long term loss. If scopely wants more overall revenue then they need to make more games but this is peak saturation for costs. When the cost for things are $50+ for everything the spend amount drops, people don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend on a high repetition/grind game each month for all the new characters vs $70 on a AAA game. They ruined stars and red stars because of the incursion campaign which made it obsolete. Then they make required raids etc chase meta. They’re turning things into loot crates with 1:300 probablity for a 100 star pull. CC isn’t that popular and is just a mess between war and Arena. The game is just getting boring, yeah, same shit everyday… auto auto auto auto okay I did the minimum amount of unfun crap I need to do every day, oh now there’s the three boring rock/paper/scissor wars I need to do… it’s just a grindfest that cost a LOT OF MONEY…

People playing the game for free want the same benefits of players who spend $100+, that’s not how free to play games work. I’m free to play and I have everyone except skrull, mephisto, captain Britain and thanos endgame. The problem isn’t the characters and how they come out. It’s the training modules. Too many teams and not enough mats to upgrade them. I have mercs for money, spider society, alpha flight, annihilators, and out of time all sitting in the vault because I don’t have enough training modules to upgrade ALL of these teams. The other thing I’d change is these annihilator orbs, why am I getting more silver surfer shards than the characters the orbs are named after????

I just started playing like 6 months ago. I invested money in it because I liked the game and I spent quite a fair amount of time on it, daily. Now with these changes, I definitely have a bad aftertaste about this. It's sad because I still have fun playing it, but it's crazy how these mobile games are always so greedy. I've been able to get all the Annihilators and I'm only 14 shards off of Sentinel right now completely F2P. People just need to realize that how they played the game isn't gonna work any more. After this blog, 14 of my alliance (plus myself) all uninstalled and quit immediately. It was a sign that things weren't going to get better, only worse. Krakens have leaned too hard on Scopely for too many advantages that they didn't need (higher star levels and the additional training mats/gear was plenty of an advantage). Now, anyone that spends less than a car payment per month on the game cannot reasonably complete even PvE content like raids, let alone CC - causing the gap to widen even more. I hope the krakens who pushed for more exclusivity are happy with their prize, because the price is going to be the health of the game. Enjoy playing against other krakens where those advantages you paid half a mortgage payment on don't mean anything because all the F2P and light spenders quit and moved on. Scopely, Boundless and everyone who pushed for these changes deserve everything that is coming to them. The only positive is that it finally gave me the last push I needed to put the game down permanently. I wish the CCs the best, you guys are working with a really bad situation and trying to make the best of it. My only advice is to expand your coverage to other games. MSF has 6 months tops.

I actually buy the passes. Waiting 6 months like I will for Cap Britain is not a good look. Historically, I usually get a to 4 star unlock. For legendaries, 5 star 1st event, 2nd event run, a 6 star. a p2p player should not have to wait 6 months for a new release. Kills a lot of the excitement

i think they are trying to slow charactes down... but they misheard what we wanted... we wanted them to not put as many characters out at one time.. to let us work on them before introducing new characters, and instead they are slowing down how long it takes us to get the new characters with the proability of the same amount released at the same pace... the only issue is really if these new characters are NEEDED for an event. if they arent... then YOU DONT NEED TO GET EVERY CHARACTER WHEN IT IS RELEASED

A positive SELF mindset is great to have, Valley, but you don't have to think positively about everything. The corporate greed is a lock here, they cannot see that their own process is eroding the fanbase that originally loved this game and cared. The thing is, the game isn't any better, it isn't any more fun to play so they've done little to increase the value in the game itself. If the next Call of Duty came out, and it was just the same game with new characters and maybe an extra game mode nobody liked, it wouldn't sell. Yet Scopely has done little to improve their game, Graphics upgrade that is barely noticeable? Yeah no. So this is akin to the operators of the Titanic saying full speed ahead when there are obvious dangers in doing so. Only when Scopely loses the base completely, Celine Dion won't be singing a tune for them. Nobody will.

They aren’t really changing the release method. They are really just moving it back a few weeks. The path orbs are pretty much just for show, not the real release. Ppl should probably focus on how long it takes them to unlock the character, not how they are unlocking them.

We all make our personal judgements I guess. For me it’s now just too much of a time commitment for too little reward too slow. Day 1 player, app deleted alongside 4 of my alliance. Shame it was a great game but they’ve got no respect for their customers, including the spenders. Good on those who can ride it out but not for me anymore. Scopley don’t choose to listen so they only thing can do is stop spending and stop playing. 👍

I give you credit Valley... to be a content creator for a fun game that is run by corporate idiots must be really tough. As an alliance leader for years, I confess that it is probably the only reason I have been putting up with the abusive way they treat us. I hate to see all the blood, sweat and tears be wasted after managing the team I built and meeting so many great teammates. So, I'm wondering if you are in the same boat. Do you think you would still be playing MSF today if you didn't have a KZbin channel and whatever income it brings? Just curious. The difference in power from higher star levels and having more access to new gear tiers/training mats is enough of an advantage. Not having the base unlock characters means that F2P and light spenders cannot even do the events, further widening the gap. If the bottom drops out of the community, all that's left is krakens and then those advantages they spent money for mean nothing. They're gonna kill the game doing this - seen it happen in several other mobile games that were spiraling.

Agreed and swgohs always had a three month release. Even if you could unlock the character, there was nothing you can do with it until you farmed the shards for three months

80 dollars for battle passes a month is just stupid. it should be 60 dollars for 6 months straight for both of them. they make more money this way. Even as a F2P player i would buy a strike and battle pass for 6 months if they were 60 dollars because you get money's worth and have something to come back to every day while playing the game for half a year. then you do it again when it about to expire. So they could easily get up to 60/120/180/240 a year off the battle and strike pass with this 6 month method.

This isn’t a MSF issue. It’s a gaming industry issue. Everything has become so micro transaction heavy. Games crash and burn the moment people stop spending the amount “the developer promised to the stockholder”. This game has to make millions and it’s basically nothing 😂. It’s not like it’s a triple A game on all consoles or some shit. My point is, upkeep can’t be insane, and these dudes want all the money. Look for an end of service notification on this game if they keep down this path.

It's quite the opposite. If any gaming company shifted to a non event feature or free events, with relaxed monetisation it means the game is in the deathrows. They will never suddenly switch to a more aggressive monetisation model as that will expedite the process This model they are implementing now means that they can afford to take this route and sustain the future for another 3+ years, until the next shift in gaming
