And keep in mind, having expired plates is considered "committing a crime." We had a vehicle behind a locked 6 1/2 foot privacy fence that we were working on to give our son as a graduation gift. I received a ticket for it then a warning that I had a week to get up to date stickers or they would seize it. We went to court so I could find out how they obtained such clear photographs of the vehicle's plates (there was no way they could have seen it through the fence) and they said they had stuck cameras through a slit in the fence. I went to the police station with the laws in hand and asked them how it is legal to stick cameras in people's fences and they said that I was a criminal and that they could put me under any kind of surveillance they wanted now. Just for having expired plates, they called me a criminal. I had no idea it was that big of a deal, but apparently it is a huge moneymaker every spring, auctioning off all the cars they seize in Denver.
