My childhood right here. I never owned a Genesis, but I DID own a Master System. I even got SEGA AGES OutRun downloaded to my Nintendo Switch.

As dated as it looks now, the Genesis port of OutRun was once king of the castle when it came to racing on the Sega Genesis, and if you can look past the graphics, it's still a huge blast to recklessly tear through these streets in your Ferrari. Gotta wonder though, how did the girlfriend ever survive some of those hideous wrecks?

Great video as always yes Out run love it the memories of playing it at my local Time zone Arcade center it was awesome and then finally getting it at home on my Sega Master System plus the mega drive was the best times

Nitpick: Space Harrier came before, in 1985 (same with Hang-On). OutRun was rather the game that made the "super scaler" popular, also thanks to the awesome cabinets. While racing/driving games are among my least favourite genres, I really enjoyed the game. I'm also genuinely surprised by the visual variety of this version.

Ah the memories! Never had this on the Mega Drive (Genesis) but it did swallow up a lot of my pocket money in the arcades! Just read the description and, yes not a game that offered much content for the home market! But I can see it would have been a good 'quick' play for a bit fun when you don't have much time. It's amazing how home computers caught up with and eventually pretty much led to the demise of arcade games.

@@Jao8bits Outrun 2 is the official sequel however, there was Turbo Outrun and Outrunners before it which kinda followed the same formula with some extra play mechanics.

Best played in the arcade in Shenmue II, using the official Sega Dreamcast wheel. Even the standard analogue controller works great. The cabinet looks awesome and the arcade owner gives you a mini replica if you do well :)

Really shocking to me how good the music, speed and how decently the scaling visuals were pulled off. I really thought they'd mostly butcher these when bringing outrun to the genesis lol

One of the golden games when I was a kid and a platinum hit on the arcades can you do the 2019 and the outruners I liked those games as well I’ve been thinking maybe they should do an outrun mixed with the badlands cars and more guns I think that would be cool and could you please do the road rash series that really needs to get remastered the ones they have out now don’t come close to the sega versions those were really cool keep up the vids

mike coleman disappointed? How? If you were looking for a full-on remake of course you’d be disappointed. To me it’s more of an enhanced rerelease, just with a few extra music tracks, customisation options, control options, 60fps and widescreen.

_aitchFactor yeah but there is no Ferrari. How is it out run without a Ferrari? All the out run games have always had a Ferrari. For me it’s a disappointment because of that.

mike coleman yeah, unfortunately it’s probably too expensive and/or inconvenient for SEGA to relicense the Ferrari brand. But considering that it’s a strictly cosmetic change that amounts to a few pixels being altered, I’d say it’s pretty minor compared to all the other stuff in the switch version. It helps that the 3DS release doesn’t have the Ferrari branding either.
