Album title is terrapin (a reptile similar to turtles and tortoises, the ones with webbed claws that spend time in water and on dry land) and the album cover has a nautilus (mollusk related to squids and cuttlefish) shell shape. Why is that?
@OutrunTheSunlight9 жыл бұрын
+Kegan Vermeulen "Terrapin" refers to the OTS emblem (the turtle illustration found on our most of our artwork), and the shell is actually an Ammonite, which was chosen it because it visually references the Fibonacci spiral (another piece of imagery we have used in the past). They are both different representations of the band. Hope that answers your question.
@mrhamburgler4808 жыл бұрын
+Outrun The Sunlight +Outrun The Sunlight you guys, and of course Tool, are now what sticks out in my mind when i hear the word Fibonacci now. Thumbs uppp. Also when i hear the word 'sequence', i always think of Fibonacci no matter the context, or conversation its thrown in. Strange how that works really. Well. Most definitely, im diggin yalls work, clearly good choice of music to study for upcoming Medic test :). Just wanted to send yall some good vibes from Tennessee :) thanks for this beautiful piece of art here. Btw, around 12:17 ish, im reminded of an outro from a season of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, its quite nostalgic. Thumbs up.

So, could this be considered post-djent? Post-prog? What the fuck it is, it's god damn lovely.
@jacquespansegrouw55139 жыл бұрын
post-progressive does sound like a perfectly entwined genre
@matrixxART9 жыл бұрын
+Conspiracy Cat what does the prefix "post" even do?
@mrobusto10109 жыл бұрын
I'd classify a "post-whatever" band as a band that draws from the surface elements of a genre, but intentional subverts them. In most cases, "post" bands opt to go without vocals or genre specific riff structures. Rather, they use unique rhythms and their instruments to influence timbre and texture. I guess? Something like that. I'm just drawing from different descriptions I've read over the years. I do know that most "post" genres were coined by journalists and critics to describe a band that drew inspiration from the elements of a genre, but transcended the genre's specific characteristics. Maybe that's a little more clear?
@fiasworkshop7 жыл бұрын
the prefix post more or less describes the sound of a genre before or after its peak. Nothing to do with vocals. Post hardcore is like Shai Hulud and Misery Signals
@Flashifyable7 жыл бұрын
"Post" is indicative of a genre that's progressed past it's defining elements to include a broader range of musical elements. Usually "post" genres are more cohesive than the genre they sprung from and will have a more mature, less experimental sound because they already have a foundation of musical elements to draw from. This is allows them to build a more solid framework and focus on doing more cohesive ornamentation that will make complexity in the music less chaotic.
