@@CatherineDavisss Thank you for this video! If a teacher would like to teach a class longer than 40 minutes on Outschool, is that possible? I would assume that would mean I would have to purchase a different subscription to Zoom on my own. Can you explain how teachers can go about planning for longer class times? Thank you :)

Hi Catherine, thank you for sharing this! One quick question: Do you generally make a power point for each class? Do you use Google Slides & just share your screen? I'm just getting started & trying to figure out how to organize stuff. Thank you!

Yes! I use google slides for my presentations and share my screen. I also use nearpod for some classes (so easy to use!) I have a little presentation in all my classes because I go over rules and stuff like that but you don't have to have one if you don't feel it's necessary for what you're teaching!

Hey. Love your videos! I just got approved to teach, so Yay! I've taught with VIPKID for over 3 years but have never taught with Zoom. Got a question for you. My first class will be for 5-7 year olds. I like the idea of keeping them unmuted when they come in to do introductions. Then I can mute all to give instructions, etc. But I want the class to be very interactive as well. Once they are muted, how do we unmute for them to answer? That is my worry. That I won't be able to unmute or they won't be able to unmute. I want to make sure I give everyone plenty of chances to talk. Thanks for the help!!
@CatherineDavisss4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! :) You can mute students but you cannot unmute them. They can only unmute themselves. I would go over rules at the beginning of class covering being quiet unless called on, raising your hand, listening, etc and try to keep them unmuted so long as they follow these rules. Kids are pretty smart and know hot to unmute themselves to talk so either way you should be good! Best of luck!

I want to target 13 to 18 year olds. Will I have to be all VIPKID-ish??? I applied to them back In December 2018 and was rejected. (Still have nightmares over that... not really but that really was stressful to me) Have learned I like working with adults or older teens. I'm a speech pathologist by training so I've worked with all ages. And in that field I do really like working with really young kids ( like the ones who are 0 to 3 just needing that push to start talking). In last year been enjoying , really enjoying, working with adults teaching English online. This whole video interview thing rather freaks me out. Anyway are there any sample on KZbin I can find a teacher who is gearing lessons to older kids?
