Elden means "the fire". You wouldn't really say "Elden Ring" but rather "Eld Ringen" to say "the ring of fire" (Eld = Fire, so just "fire ring" would be "Eld-ring") Okay enough extra information no one asked for or cares about.

I didn’t freak out about Keanu in Cyberpunk until I found that he was playing Johnny Silverhand, but then I was OMG-ing like crazy!! JS was such a big deal in our Cyberpunk 2020 games when I was growing up and Keanu; could be / should be / is, perfect for the role. Just don’t mess it up Keanu - I remember ‘Chain Reaction’...

I may have said this already, but as someone who only bought new consoles last year, I am less than excited to hear about a new one coming out even relatively soon. All it means to me is that I'm going to be constantly 5 years behind, because there's no way I can afford new ones that soon. I have a PC too, and could upgrade that easily, but again cost is a problem. I know it wasn't a surprise announcement, but still. I guess it depends on how fast they're planning to switch over.

Last year I bought a Nintendo Console. The reason that I went for the 2DS XL and not the switch was the fact that 2DS had the Virtual Console. I never had a console before and the ability to play ALL the Pokemon games and knowing that that many games where available definetly WAS a selling point.

I'd say that backwards compatibility is probably more important to newer people to the system than it is to people who have been playing for a while. If you've been playing for a long time, yeah, it can be inconvenient to have two or more consoles set up, but then, it seems many people seem to have both a PlayStation and an X-Box, so maybe that isn't quite as bad as I think. For myself, I got out of gaming for a while (ok, it was the better part of two decades... I'm old), and finally reached a tipping point where there were enough games I was interested in playing that were released that I finally convinced myself to jump back in and buy a game console. This was roughly a month before the PlayStation 4 and X-Box One came out. But none of the games I was interested in (at that time) were released for the PS4 or XB1, and neither console was backwards compatible, so I bought a new PS3 instead. That PS3 is still my only console, and I still have many games for it that I haven't played yet (from the Mass Effect trilogy to Kingdoms of Amular-Hi, Ellen!- to the Dragon Age series and many others), so I'm not ready to buy a PS4 or XB1 anytime soon. (Yes, I know this is an X-Box channel, but most games are released for both consoles, and I like to keep up.) When I bought the PS3, I joked that I'll be ready for the PS4 about the time the PS5 comes out. There seems to be a lot of truth to that statement. If anything, I won't be ready for the PS4 even then. But if the PS5 will be able to play PS4 games, then when the times comes, I'll likely pick up a PS5 rather than a PS4.

Regarding backwards compatibility, that’s like the big thing I give Xbox a TON of credit for supporting. I have a PS2 for my PSX/PS2 games, and a PS4, but I cannot play physical copies of PS3 games without a PS3 (I always prefer physical over digital).

The fact that the Cyberpunk game, based on a tabletop setting set in a fictional version of the year 2020, will come out in the actual year 2020, is at once mystifying and very, very funny. (And the fact that the game takes place in 2077 is just one more proof that Keanu Reeves is some kind of time-shifting immortal being greater than us mere mortals). Also, "Project Scarlett" sounds like the name of an Umbrella Corporation project to create some kind of knock-off vampire.
