Great video! Thanks for all the information. Wanted to mention that the bathroom kit should also include a trowel. I believe many locations require that you dig a cat hole for solid waste.

Well done. My set up is very much the same. As for insulation, I always carry a spare pair of socks. Foot care is critical on the trail. If your feet aren’t happy you won’t be either.

Thank you! You are correct about footcare. Leukotape is a game changer for those prone to blisters. I find myself carrying socks, light gloves, and a light beanie even in warmer temps. You never know. See you outside.

You video was well made and edited. It was also well planed out. And of course the content was useful and informative. Keep up the videos. I look forward to your other videos. Keep it up.

Neat! talking about nutrition. I really miss the Kendal Mint Cake/Bar we could get in the Rockies back in the seventies.

Good video. I would add carry a sit mat too and a buff scarf. Great advice and hopefully newcomers take heed...I see so many without the essentials.

Great tip! I love Buff's both for winter warmth and summer UV protection. I do not carry a sit mat for backpacking, but do have an inflatable Kymit pad for camping. Thanks for watching and the comment.

I strongly prefer the Katadyn BeFree over the Sawyer Mini. The bladder is stronger, it filters about 3x faster and the maintenance is easier. I just had a Sawyer Mini pouch fail on me again. 2 trips, 2 fails!

Definitely agree with having some sort of garbage bag in order to leave no trace. 👍👍 I keep 2, one for dirty clothes, one for trash.

Interesting, I do not have any experience with the Katadyn BeFree. It might be a good comparison video! I have been very happy with the Sawyer Mini. I used the included bladders for a bit without issue, but I have since upgraded to the CNOC Vecto as my "dirty" side. The CNOC Vecto makes gathering water a snap. I had one failure with the Sawyer due to the rubber gasket. My next video in queue is a simple fix.
@MarkAJ311

Nice! The flow on the Katadyn blows the Sawyer away too. If you ever get your hands on one, a comparison video would be great! I do believe someone does have one on KZbin though.
@OutsideChronicles

So one thing I question about the Katadyn is its capacity, it looks like 1000L and then you need to replace the cartridge? I like the bigger hole in the bladder, but then that makes it non-standard on water bottles or other bladders.
@MarkAJ311
@MarkAJ311 4 жыл бұрын
@@OutsideChronicles So, it is 42mm filter and works with a bunch of bladders that Hydrapak makes. Anywhere from 500ml up to 3 or 4 liter! It'll also fit on a standard Gatorade bottle, but that'd be a difficult squeeze. Don't know what you mean about replacing the cartridge.

@@OutsideChronicles Sometimes I will carry my handgun, but some people freak out when those are mentioned! Also because on one hike I fell and tore my rotator cuff I'll pack some potent pain relief also.

There should be 13 essentials rain jacket and pants plus a warm jacket. Life in the outdoors is not fun if you’re cold or get hypothermia you can get in summer too.
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles 4 жыл бұрын
I always have a rain shell and sometimes a puffy jacket. I think those would fall under the Insulation System. This "system" can change widely depending on the time of year and location of your hike. But you are right, people do not think you can get hypothermia in 65 degree weather. Add in some rain, and it could be disastrous. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

@@PapajosTraders Good suggestion, if I had to choose one thing to bring on the trail from these items, it would probably be duct tape. I have used to to fix shoes and wounds.

V nice video. But looking at the amount of water to be carried I guess I'll never be able to go a multi day hike. 6 ltrs I cnt carry more than that. I am too weak 🥺

I never carry more than 3l. I use a Sawyer Squeeze or Katadyn BeFree to purify water at camp or on the trail. Water is heavy! See you outside!
