Ah, that's the same as if you had 0 clues in the quest. Also apparently the only thing that makes it good is that it can have 5 augments added to it.

Yep, happened to me too. And if I'm bored I like to guess numbers on number pads in games - I've gotten through to many things early, and I certainly wouldn't call it cheating. A keycode is just a stupid way to lock something in a game because it can be guessed early.

@@kaldo_kaldo yeah a lot of games will simply not bother letting you, the player, even type in numbers. Your character has to find the code, then use the key pad, with no typing in numbers. I kinda see the approach of letting players brute force it as dumb from the start, and penalizing that as dickish. Then again game devs will sometimes put collateral damage or friendly fire in games just as a way to penalize you for playing so....

If I recall correctly, some of these, like the fable frying pan and the dungeon master's ire one also trigger if you figure it out without collecting all the clues (because the game only checks the "has found all the clues?" flag). Fable at least, powers up the pan a little for each clue you find, but I think Prey had a pass/fail thing (so, if you find three digits, but brute force the fourth, you still get the DM's Ire)

In Old school runescape, if you bring all the stuff in your inventory you need for "Doric quest" before talking to him and accepting the quest. This place is as good as anywhere to search for people with the spine to report. Cancel-Culture doesnt really have a positive counterpart, because not enough people have time and spine to flag. And you? Why not go out of your way to do this costs-no-money-thing that makes your favorite plattform more healthy? Search and report/flag some Racists, Bullies, Hackers, whatever. S-xual content is honestly easiest to find, so why not start with this? Whatever its something simple like 'Russian guy gropes 1000 boobs, lol!" or something more intense? I'm sure youre smart enough to find somtething real quick. So?

And attempting to leave this positive message in a place that's 'less good' might attract undue disdain for varying reasons. Which I would hate to see happen to a benign effort such as yours. My advice on a 'better' way or place to impart your message? Create a video of your own. Or, comment on a video with subject matter that's at least slightly relevant to this. In Tomb Raider 2 & Tomb Raider 3, attempting to use the version of the all weapons or level skip cheats from the previous game results in Lara exploding. In the Marathon trilogy, cheating to the exit terminal (hard to do since there’s no noclip code for some stupid reason) before you’re meant to get there has Durandal or whoever else you’re working for at the time chew you out on it. In the Marathon 2 map curiouser and curiouser, the only thing between you and the exit is a pair of locked doors. Get past them without opening them and Durandal says “that’s cool how you just walked through that wall, but I still won’t let you leave.” Pro Pinball Timeshock, due to being an accurate pinball simulation, has a tilt sensor for when you nudge the table too much. Unlike other examples, you can turn it off in the operator’s menu. It won’t help you much if you do, but you still need it. Doom 3 has the game commend you but otherwise do nothing if you try to use classic Doom cheat codes. And finally, the retail remake of The Stanley Parable has the serious room.

But I will say this about cheating... it’s cheating to break the rules in order to gain an advantage. Too gain an advantage within the parameters of the rules isn’t cheating, it’s strategizing. If there aren’t any rules against finding a safe spot and using it then it’s not cheating.

I don't remember the details, but Nintendo thought (with reason) that being yelled at by a mole for 5 minutes with an annoying piece music in the background would be an effective (or at least funny) countermeasure

oh god, i remember doing the " save / load " cheat in Harvest moon DS when in the mines to try and get as low as possible with finding the holes to fall in to drop down before you run out of energy, and it ends up completely fucking up your game. like there are so many glitches and it crashes and becomes corrupted.
