Churchill was also in WWI he started off as First Lord of the Admiralty, a position he later resigned from and then became an Army officer on the Western Front then later in the war he returned to government as Munitions Minister.

MrTheNoMan The 1864 convention was about wounded soldiers. 1906 extended the rules to sailors. 1929 covered prisoners of war and 1949 covered civilians. Personally I think the first was the most important because it established the principle that war could actually have laws restricting its barbarity. Ironically it came the same year the American General Sherman said, "War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it; the crueler it is, the sooner it will be over." I doubt any general would have dared to say the same in 1914.

Mike, the Law of Armed Conflict (based on the Geneva Conventions of 1949) states that "Airmen who parachute from a disabled aircraft and offer no resistance may not be attacked. Airmen who resist in descent or are downed behind their own lines and who continue to fight may be subject to attack." So you, theoretically, are cleared in attacking what were essentially paratroopers.

Things i am excited about to see: Infantry can take down Tanks? Finally! (Halo, Titanfall implemented this years ago and it just balances perfectly) No lock on missiles against air vehicles? Oh yeah! ( on the other hand, they have gotten slower, harder to maneuver which will require higher skill and balance it furthermore) Less HUD information. Less beeps und boops. More direct combat. Sweeet. All in all i can't wait to get my hands on it!

Under the Geneva Convention you can't shoot parachutists who have bailed from a downed aircraft but you can shoot paratroopers. So Mike should be safe from war crimes, although shooting a soldier before they've even got their boots on the ground is pretty low.

The rule on killing parachuters is that you can shoot them whenever except when you are in a dogfight with them and shoot them down and they parachute that's when you can't shoot them, if it's an invading army that's parachuting in go ahead and get that AA gun :-)

+BIG SHoKz Yeah I'd like that a lot as well now that I've thought about it some more. With the stuff I've seen from Battlefield 1 they could implement a lot of the destructive into a WW2 setting. Perhaps implement a way for players on the German side to use Blitzkrieg warfare. Give the Brits radar, give the French really cool white flags to hold and wave above their heads. Sounds pretty cool. Personally I'd love to see a map based around the siege of Berlin and another based around The Battle of Britain. Operation Overlord and Operation Barbarossa would be really interesting as well obviously.

I also hope that the campaign is a really well made, in-depth story that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 had (I got into it from BFBC2 and went back a year to play BF1943 and have played all since). It needs to be a campaign that pulls you in and makes you really want to fight to win, instead of some campaign they slapped together with just the same assault rifle bots to shoot at the entire playthrough to ready you for multiplayer and a weak story to make it the combination of two evils. This style has been plaguing the gaming community as far as games with both campaign and multiplayer go for at least half a decade.

Descending paratroopers are active combatants and are therefore legitimate targets under the Geneva Convention. You're thinking of aircrew Lots of people saying there was no Geneva Convention in WWI. Not true, although the one then in force had fewer provisions. The first Geneva Convention was agreed in 1864. Yes I did look it up.

The tank takedown should just let you be able to climb onto the tank as well to plant c4 there so you don't have to get run over. Tanks are very powerful units and often were used as slow moving cover for infantry, and those infantry would also be able to stop enemies from getting too close. The tank should require more teamwork to use. The added feature I want that I mentioned would balance out the tank vs infantry combo well and I think it would be cool to see Battlefield require more teamwork. Instead of an "every man for himself" mentality (unless you're a medic). I know it's not in the same genre, but it's a simple example, take Rocket League for example. You don't even have to know your teammates, you HAVE to be able to communicate and work together efficiently to win every time. I would love to see DICE make Battlefield an even more of a teamwork game than it already is. The shooter genre needs more of this.

well, actually putting a giant balloon full of flamable hydrogen above a warzone was a brilliant idea up to some point, as the hydrogen does not incinerate when being shot at because of the lack of oxygen. The british airforce had to event special ammunition to bring zeppelins down. (Professor Andy of history, how do you not know this ;P )
