I dont what to go to deep into there story because more people NEED!! to play these games. But ther names are Atoli and sakubo. Atoli is the host of the 2sd phase epitaph innis ,the mirage of deceit. Although Roxas line about "who am I gonna have ice cream with?" is pretty goofy, it has some meaning, he wasn't even a year old then and knew nothing about the world, so for him, as axel told him, friends are people you have ice cream with, she was one of his only friends in the whole world, so he meant to say "who's gonna be my friend now?" or something similar. Still that line manages to make me sad and chuckle a little every time I hear it haha

Roxas got edgy as hell when he finally left the Organization (and I admittedly liked that about him, a snappy contrast to Sora. But then Sora got sassy as hell when Roxas joined him again, lol!). But that line always makes me sad. It's like the last vestige of his innocence and naivete, like Ventus when first introduced to Aqua and Terra. You want to protect the poor things and keep them shielded from being hurt, but...you can't.

Yorhm's story goes so much deeper than that: he's despised by the same people who asked him to be their ruler, and he links the fire in the hopes to do right by the people he rules and cares for (even though they despise him) - but even that goes wrong and they're all consumed. For extra feels, after you and Siegward toast following Yorhm's defeat, if you go up and talk to Siegward, all you get is silence (the implication that Siegward killed himself after fulfilling his duty to his friend 😭)
@Ruukasu00
@Ruukasu00 2 жыл бұрын
Siegward doesn't kill himself after defeating Yorhm. He just kind of falls over and dies. This is because, as an unkindled, he's finally finished his duty and loses the purpose for living, so he finally can die. In a way, Siegward is one of the rare DS characters who actually has a happy ending.

The biggest punch to the gut with Xion’s battle itself was the fact that her threat to absorb Roxas was a bluff to get him to kill her: After discovering the truth of what she was, and getting a fair amount of guilt from Riku and Namine (mostly Riku) to do the “right thing”, she knew she had to forfeit her life.

I killed him, because I thought it was more in line with what Jin's character had become, even more so than in the beginning. Nothing Jin had done was selfish. If he had spared his uncle it would only be for selfish reasons, because his uncle would have had his whole life ruined, and would feel in huge amounts of shame. Basically, he would kill his uncle because that was the most merciful thing to do - anything else would be selfishness on his part.

Roxas associates eating ice cream with Axel and Xion with happy feelings. And knowing that he'll never be able to do that again with Xion broke him emotionally. - - - - - - - - - - - - - SPOILER: Xion and Roxas both get brought back anyway in KH3, and now they get to live happily ever after with Axel. I was listening to the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 soundtrack yesterday and I think while Zack's final stand against the Shinra army is way sadder, it's not technically a bossfight. So, I submit the fight of Zack against Angeal as a suggestion. Angeal, so disgusted in what he was as an experiment, absorbs numerous monsters to become a real beast. He forces Zack's hand to kill him, making his pupil commit an assisted suicide. That to me is what makes it so awful. He did not have to stain Zack's hands like that. His heartbreaking sobs in the church with Aerith makes it all the worse. Angeal was one of my favorite characters in that game but what he made Zack do was terrible.

She pulls out her keyblade and he sees she's not going to just come quietly. Hurt that she'd fight him and that everything with his friends is falling apart, he says "You two just think you can do whatever you want. Fine, go on, then! Keep running! But I'll always be there to bring you back!" He fights her and wins and brings her back to the castle. And that having failed...she then goes to Roxas, and...we saw how that ended.

How about the final sequence in Final Fantasy X? It's not really a real boss fight since everyone has auto life but it should still count since it's still a battle. Yuna has to summon every Aeon she has to allow them to be possessed by Yu Yevon and destroyed so Yu Yevon cannot possess any more Aeons to recreate Sin and for it to reveal itself before the party. These are powerful companions that you have along your side since the beginning that must be put down one by one. After each is taken down, Yuna is visibly upset that a friend is killed. Extra sad points if you have the Sensor ability, each Aeon's info bar shows their final words for you, urging you to destroy them once and for all. Edit:grammar and autocorrect

Father Gasqoine in Bloodborne is an ex hunter went crazy by blood. What makes the fight even sadder is the fact that before facing him you actually find his daughter waiting for him alone in their house because her mother is also dead and asks you to find an item of hers she lost, which, you guessed it, you find in the boss area meaning that Gasqoine probably had it with him, maybe for good luck.

Even in Elden Ring, there are heartbreaking fights. Starscourge Radahn was turned into a mindless beast by the scarlet rot wielded by Malenia, Blade of Miquella, when they fought to a standstill in the Caelid Wilds. Radahn, who was described as the strongest of the demigods, was possessed of a strong sense of honor and integrity, and upon learning of Malenia’s rot being spread in Caelid, brought his flame knights there to burn it away to protect the people. He, in a classic display of pure good-heartedness, loved his horse so much that when he realized he was growing so large and heavy, went out of his way to learn gravity magic so he wouldn’t hurt it when he rode it. Radahn wasn’t just a demigod, he was a champion. His boss fight is a festival of combat and strength organized by his friend, Witch Hunter Jerren, in order to give his friend a dignified and honorable death in combat, thus freeing him from his scarlet madness. His funeral is a celebration of strength and combat prowess, and Radahn died a manly death surrounded by extraordinary warriors, including Iron Fist Alexander, Blaidd the Half Wolf, and the future Elden Lord.

Blaidd himself is just. Eesh. Created explicitly by the Two Fingers to serve as the Sword of Damocles hanging over Ranni's neck, and despite that, loved her so much he fought the Greater Will until the very last second. His fight is a mercy kill at absolute best, and you can hear him trying to break free right as you approach. You don't even get to do as Ranni asks you to and tell him and Iji she loves them, because Blaidd is too far gone and Iji removes his helm to reveal himself to the Black-Knife assassins in order to keep them from Ranni's trail.

The saddest bossfight I encountered was when I played FFCC: EoT for the first time. Not only do you have to put someone close to you out of misery to proceed, but it all could've been so easily preventable because one character basically became a self-fulfilling prophecy. It felt double cruel. The saddest thing is how empty the game is after and it just made me wish I didn't do it. I replayed the game several times, hoping there was an ending where I didn't have to do that. Sadly there doesn't seem to be one (or I missed the opportunity every single time). Either way: Sherlotta, you shall be missed...

Super glad to see Kwolok and the Ori games in general spotlighted here. Kwolok was the only boss in Will of the Wisps who gave me a substantially massive amount of trouble (based on the order the achievements are listed, I think I might have accidentally fought him earlier than I was supposed to), to the point that I only won by tanking him while clinging to the wall instead of putting up with being submerged in water. So of course, I was overjoyed when I finally did beat him-thinking at the time that he would just be freed from the monster’s possession and we’d all move on. But of course I only got to be happy and celebrate my hard-earned victory for about a minute before watching him die. And then I just felt sad and guilty that I’d had to beat him to death. He was such a pure and selfless character, and his fate was literally the last thing he deserved…

I can't blame you for not doing Undertale. There are SO MANY heartbreaking bosses in Undertale's genocide. I would, however, like to see one in the next commenter edition if there is one. Take your pick: Toriel: Only wants to protect you and is so horrified by your power that she makes a joke about it before she dies, getting what is likely the second longest death scene in the game. Even worse, her battle theme is "Heartache." She doesn't want to hurt you. But you hurt her. There you are; the best part of Undertale--its music--making something heartbreaking even more so. PAPYRUS: you already did it. Undyne (the Undying): Is so horrified that she becomes super DETERMINED and refuses to die until she has made sure that you are dead and that monsters--and HUMANS, even though she hates them--are safe. Description is literally: "Reformed by her DETERMINATION to save the world." Intro theme is "But the Earth Refused to Die" and battle theme is "Battle Against a True Hero." Once again, Undertale's music makes things worse. This isn't supposed to happen! Mettaton: Really wants the views. Tries to kill you--once again, to save monsters AND humans--and immediately dies. He thought you would have wanted to join his fan club. Plus, he has special dialogue if you don't even hit anywhere near gold/max attack. Can't remember, don't want to put in the extra effort of putting it here (even though the knowledge of the world is literally at my fingertips right now). sans: YOU ALREADY DID IT. Asgore: Mistakes the warning that Flowey gave him and thinks that Frisk is a friendly monster, not the kind figuratively speaking. He tries to engage conversation and even offers Frisk a cup of tea, but then dies. Twice. Normally taking the spot for THE LONGEST death scene in the game. Flowey: Sad death? Well, yes, if you look into the lore. Essentially, he's a monster kid (no, not Monster Kid) named Asriel that turns into a flower and adapts a killer mindset and is existentially bored after what can only be BILLIONS of resets. And the worst part: in genocide, he uses his Asriel voice and PLEADS for mercy from Frisk (who he thinks is his best friend Chara), even though the entire time Flowey has been encouraging Frisk to kill EVERYONE. Unfortunately, everyone includes Flowey and he dies believing that he was killed by his best friend, and the REAL Chara ensures that Frisk suffers the same fate as Flowey. The only thing that's worse: IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT. NOT CHARA'S. NOT FRISK'S. YOURS. Because YOU are a part of Undertale's canon. YOU did this. YOU made Frisk kill EVERYONE. YOU are the reason that the normally happy world of Undertale is DESTROYED. DELETED. GONE. And it's all YOUR fault.

While most of the boss fights in Tales of Xillia 2 are awful and sad, considering that most of them cause not only the end of a simple wish but also the entire dimension born from it, Ludger vs. Julius kills me everytime. Not only is it Brother vs. Brother, but upon defeating him you are dumped into a cutscene where you learn the only thing Julius ever wanted was to live happily with his younger brother. And of course theres the fact that when Ludger kills his brother in the cutscene, Julius doesn't resist. And while you can see Ludger screaming in grief and agony, the only sound you hear is Julius humming a lullaby and his stopwatch hitting the ground.

Melania's story in Elden Ring is honestly kind of sad, I feel bad that she had to die from a lore standpoint

Saw my baby girl on the cover and I came running Three fifty eight over two days, 358 is the time you spend in the organization, Roxas and Xion are the 2 the story is being told by, and yes just watch the ps4 "movie" if you don't want to feel the full impact of the story in that moment, watch a playthrough if you still want to know why she matters, play it if you can.

Agreed. That movie kept so much out of it including Xion's actual personality. I played the game when I was young and I cried during that fight. I tended not to get emotional when it comes to games back then but that moment is just so sad.

It’s amazing how a single DS game with rough graphics and terrible controls is the entire reason Xion is my favorite character in the entire series. It still managed to have such an amazing story. I don’t care what absurd reason they had to conjure up to bring her back in KH3, I’m just glad I got her back.

@@Road_to_Dawn Actually imo the only really absurd thing is Roxas still having two keyblades. Him getting the second keyblade after killing her shows how her heart is now inside him along with him growing his own. He should only be able to use one now bevause there's only one heart in him unlike when he also had Ventus and Xion's.

I'm not sure if it counts as a boss battle, and okay it's technically due to your own evil choices throughout the plot, but Zeke in InFamous 2. You're teamed up with a guy who's set to kill hundreds of thousands of humans to awaken a few thousand conduits, saving those conduits from a plague that has all the indicators of going planetwide and killing everyone. One of your conduit buddies, Nix, shows up to try and stop you and you put her down with your godlike phenomenal cosmic powers. Then your human buddy, who's been with you personally since the first game and with your playable character since childhood, shows up with a gun to also try and stop you. All it takes is three standard lightning blasts to take him down, but it is absolutely heart-wrenching.

Also speaking of Ghost of Tsushima, the boss fights against both.... Spoilers ...Lady Adachi and especially Ryuzo are also heart breaking, in their own ways.

Spoiler warning: The poor owlets it Ori and the Blind Forest didn't even die to Ori's light. They died to the Spirit Tree's light, a much more powerful version of Ori's light, because the Spirit Tree sent out a powerful burst of light searching for Ori. The poor baby shadow owls were too young to withstand such a powerful light. The reason Kuro is after Ori is because she knows he's trying to restore the eyes of the forest to the Spirit Tree, and is afraid that will kill her final child.
