I had the older rustler and a older revo. They’re both a lot of fun in their own ways despite being relatively similar. The revo handles better and it a lot of fun on rough terrain but man it’s a PITA to work on. The rustler is sort of the jack of all trades master of none, it can do whatever you want for the most part and it’s easier/cheaper to work on. I’d be happy with either

would you say the rustler is good to begin with?
@arthurhexeberg15334 жыл бұрын
Fabuncian : Yes I would, its easy to drive, has A LOT of spare parts which is good to begin with, its easier to repair 2WD vehicles, and the car is worth its money in my opinion. If I was a beginner, I would go for the brushed version, because it will take more damage before anything brakes. Also, you could eventually switch to the brushless motor when you feel ready/experienced. The difference is huge on this car.

I mean, these things will last the rest of your life. people are still driving RC's from the 80's and 90's. These things give you a lot of time per dollar spent.
@backyardbashing61364 жыл бұрын
i agree it is hard to get used to the price. but when you think about the money it took to design extremely durable parts like plastic and motors it starts to make sense. and then having warranties on top of that. its hard for me to justify spending over $600 on a toy but then i think about hobbies where people are dumping thousands and i feel better. a lift kit, winch, and tires for my jeep was over $2000 and breaking parts is a lot more expensive than the $5 traxxas parts

I just bought the E-Revo 2.0, and was sad to see that my existing 3S batteries do not fit (too thick), so I'm waiting on new batteries to come in from Traxxas. Just another thing for people to take into account when buying these, their existing batteries might not fit as they only take the thinner packs. It's really hard to fully appreciate the size difference on video; it's something you really have to see to appreciate. I really can't wait to get those batteries in so I can start using this beast! My Rustler VXL really couldn't handle my back yard as it's a bit too bumpy, and the chassis sits too low. I'm not planning on doing any jumping, so I'm hoping the E-Revo will hold up well.

Whats funny is that I just made a video showing how to change the chassis of the Rustler so it can use the same batteries as the E Revo.

@@outsourcedrc I saw that one too :) My issue is that my batteries are too thick and stubby (6500Mah 3S). Same ones I use for my Hoss. Hopefully all will be in soon, and I'll be ready to rip!

To me, I think it all depends on your skill level in the RC world. If a person doesn't mind tinkering on things, and experimenting on different setups, I woujld certainly go with the erevo. But if a person wants to go out, and buy something that is easy to work on and just bash around then I would go with the rustler.

Linkage shocks also change the leverage the shock has over the suspension based off travel position. Meaning you get a softer shock and spring in the beginning and it hardens up before it bottoms out. Motorcycles have used this for decades.

Many years ago, I paid over $700 on a gen1 e-revo(still bitter about the low price of the gen2). I don't have the chassis brace or limiting straps, and i'm still running the stock servos that were in it when I bought it. Every part you claimed to have to replace, I haven't on mine. I'm running much larger proline trencher tires than stock gen1(about same size as gen2), I've gone through a few rear ring and pinion gears(the gen2's are much larger so shouldn't be an issue), I broke all the stock plastic axles, and the traxxas steel axles. I'm now running mip axles and have had no issues. I also managed to break a traxxas rear spool within 5 minutes of driving in the yard. Some of us are into the hobby because we like working on things, so the complexity of the e-revo over the rustler is a win for the e-revo to me. I bought a trx-4 crawler kit just to build, built it in a morning, have barely played with it, and am saving to buy a sport kit to assemble. I work on full size cars both as a job and hobby, so tinkering with much smaller scale things at a fraction of the cost is enjoyable for me. When the big car breaks at the track, it's hundreds or thousands of dollars. When the rc breaks, its usually less than fifty dollars. Also you should see dude perfects videos of them jumping an e-revo, theirs seemed to have held up fine in stock form on massive jumps.

Your V1 E Revo sounds a lot like mine. I'm still running stock sevos on it. Dude Perfect do break their E Revos. If you watch, you can see that sometimes they do things like break A Arms when they land. You can see the wheels dangling. They edit the videos to look awesome, not to be reality.

@@outsourcedrc I personally haven't done any huge jumps. Even when I do jumps like in your video, I crank up the springs for more ride height to try to get more cushion before it bottoms out. I broke an a-arm shortly after buying mine, but it was because I hit a curb at an angle where the arm contacted the curb directly, I replaced the arms with rpm ones. I'm glad you did this video, as I am considering getting a gen2 revo, or a rustler 4x4. I want both, but the boss is in charge of the money, and she won't let me buy both at once. The price difference in the uk is huge. Rustler is about £450 ($603) and the erevo is about £670 ($897)

The big differences I see are how much money you want to spend and what size you prefer. Other than that I’d say both of em are worth it

Great video! I also have the e-Revo 2.0 here in Brazil is an e-Rev0 1/16 brushless. The 2.0's a lot more work but, I do not know ... it's cooler! You could do a comparative video of Xmaxx 2.0, huh !?

Rustler is already notorious for breaking driveshafts. Should be 1 of the first upgrades. Broke a driveshaft in the first 15 mins of owning mine.

I had the erevo 2.0. Sold it because it couldn’t keep the links popping out almost every run. Stripping them. I just could t handle it haha. I just ordered myself a Rustler 4x4 vxl on Friday should be here soon. Excited to get it. This is a good comparison video. I own a 4tec 2.0 with Traxxas orange drift wheels and a Associated ntc3 white body it looks awesome. I like a mixture of brands I buy all sorts of stuff.

How you like the rustler vxl now? Thinking about getting one, but the shop says its not as durable as others like Arrma. Im new to the hobby
@spacecowboyfpv55115 жыл бұрын
My Rustler 4x4 VXL is an absolute animal. I have had it for 3 months, zero breaks. I SMASH the thing. 20-30 foot jumps at the BMX park all day. 10-15 jumps to straight FLATS. nothing broken . stock shock caps, everything totally fine. I run on 3S as well...only mod is the ESC fan. don't let the Arrma fan boys convince you Traxxas is somehow less robust.... My local hobby shop has just has many Arrmas sitting in there for repairs as Traxxas… its how you drive is the main thing. Land it upright :)

Awesome comparison.. Sorry I had to respond to a person on here that was disrespectful to what your video is about and tried to bring negativity to the RC hobby..Traxxas and Tekno are my main BASHERS and the 3 arrmas I owned were horrible since they are folding up after 1 run... That's why I started buying kits from tekno..if someone mentions an arrma keep in mind your gonna spend allot of cash in m2c and voltage hobbies. even lightly bashed they bend..v4 is just a new body not a new chassis which had been their problem for years now.. To be fair I like their designs but their aluminum chassis is totally garbage and unexceptable for free..I wouldn't except 1 for free cause I know I would need to buy a new chassis immediately...Traxxas stands behind their product..arrma self the same ingredients in a nicer body..v4 really arrma?? If you want your customers back then fix the main issue..I know arrma fanboys get bent out of shape but you know you can item more then 1brand.... Your watching a traxxas compared to another Traxxas.. When arrma fixes this issue with some real 6061 or 7075 aluminum then I will buy a 4th..but all the proof is in the new videos it there.. Watch and learn about all RCS B4 you buy them.. Arrma had awesome designs but horrible quality aluminum.

I’m similar to you I enjoy many brands. I own Traxxas, Arrma, Axial, Associated, HPI etc. I have one Arrma you might enjoy since you don’t like the chassis folding. And that is the Nero 6S. The truck is a beast I haven’t had too many issues with it besides the steering servo and an occasional diff servo going out. It’s kind of a shelf model now though being discontinued. I just ordered a Rustler 4x4 vxl a couple days ago can’t wait to get it. I’ve got an Xmaxx and 4tec 2.0 also. And building a slash into a ultimate version. Here’s something. Why didn’t Arrma use a thicker chassis to begin with? I have a older HPI Vorza Flux 6s and the thing is as monster with a 4mm good quality metal chassis it’s hard to tweak it! The only issues I have had on 6S with that old school heavy buggy is the drive cups wear after a while. Otherwise it is a tank

i wouldnt call what he said to be disrespectful. what you did here was disrespectful to him. all he did was ask if he tried the granite blx. you wrote a book blowing a fuse on him. that guy probably never saw the video where outsourced said hes a traxxas guy. so chill out man.

This is the second book-long comment i have come across with you crapping all over a brand that has rightfully earned their place in the RC industry. Seriously, a whole paragraph about how bad aarma is on a video that has nothing to do with them. Relax, no one is trying to give you an aarma. You sound more bent than my kraton's shock tower.

Just to let everyone know I own both cars and really there a DIFFRENT PEICE of cake really the erevo is good for all the cool stuff going fast but that esc lets you go real slow on the erevo which is great for slow control but becase the short wheelbase on the rusyler it makes it really fun but there a lot DIFFRENT size wize the erevo is a nice size but for me the rustler is too short which causes me to go running once it’s turned over hope this helped thanks

I'm not sure. I have not driven the Slash. I do know that at higher speeds, The Slashes tires rub in side the body real bad. Its body also acts like a parachute when you jump. I believe they have the same electronics in them. I know they have the same motor. the Rustler is probably better, but I dont know for sure.

Do you HAVE to have that quick clip body on the 4x4 vxl Rustler? Wouldn't the old clip style be more secure? I joined the traxxas family today, btw. Bought myself a normal Rustler with green body. I love it! Works well with the 5200mah 2s battery I had. Bought the no battery or charger version, since I already had a Venom balance charger and lipos...After my daughter gets practice on my cheap wl toys buggy I'll get myself a brushless Traxxas and give her the old Rustler. I plan on giving it to her with some nice tire and suspension upgrades as well. Probably change the body to red for her too. Nice video btw, good camera work and explain things nice, appreciate your enthusiasm.
