I just bought the E-Revo 2.0, and was sad to see that my existing 3S batteries do not fit (too thick), so I'm waiting on new batteries to come in from Traxxas. Just another thing for people to take into account when buying these, their existing batteries might not fit as they only take the thinner packs. It's really hard to fully appreciate the size difference on video; it's something you really have to see to appreciate. I really can't wait to get those batteries in so I can start using this beast! My Rustler VXL really couldn't handle my back yard as it's a bit too bumpy, and the chassis sits too low. I'm not planning on doing any jumping, so I'm hoping the E-Revo will hold up well.

You can fix the E Revo your self. There are lots of videos online showing a lot of the repairs. Some of the parts on the E Revo just do not hold up right out of the box. I'm not sure why Traxxas made it like that. Most RC's do need some kind of upgrade though. None of them are perfect.

The Rustler is a really good RC for a new person to the hobby. You can fit a really big battery in the new one also. Traxxas sells a few. Just be sure you keep it storage charged. You can’t keep it at a full charge and let it sit. You will ruin the battery.

Will it be safe to do some jumps and flips, like on your small ramp? Or will things break? I don't want an item that requires heavy maintenance. Do you HAVE to have that quick clip body on the 4x4 vxl Rustler? Wouldn't the old clip style be more secure? I joined the traxxas family today, btw. Bought myself a normal Rustler with green body. I love it! Works well with the 5200mah 2s battery I had. Bought the no battery or charger version, since I already had a Venom balance charger and lipos...After my daughter gets practice on my cheap wl toys buggy I'll get myself a brushless Traxxas and give her the old Rustler. I plan on giving it to her with some nice tire and suspension upgrades as well. Probably change the body to red for her too. Nice video btw, good camera work and explain things nice, appreciate your enthusiasm.

Thanks! I'm not sure if you can get a body post mount setup for the Rustler VXL. I know you can with the E Revo 2.0

I'm not sure. I have not driven the Slash. I do know that at higher speeds, The Slashes tires rub in side the body real bad. Its body also acts like a parachute when you jump. I believe they have the same electronics in them. I know they have the same motor. the Rustler is probably better, but I dont know for sure.

Many years ago, I paid over $700 on a gen1 e-revo(still bitter about the low price of the gen2). I don't have the chassis brace or limiting straps, and i'm still running the stock servos that were in it when I bought it. Every part you claimed to have to replace, I haven't on mine. I'm running much larger proline trencher tires than stock gen1(about same size as gen2), I've gone through a few rear ring and pinion gears(the gen2's are much larger so shouldn't be an issue), I broke all the stock plastic axles, and the traxxas steel axles. I'm now running mip axles and have had no issues. I also managed to break a traxxas rear spool within 5 minutes of driving in the yard. Some of us are into the hobby because we like working on things, so the complexity of the e-revo over the rustler is a win for the e-revo to me. I bought a trx-4 crawler kit just to build, built it in a morning, have barely played with it, and am saving to buy a sport kit to assemble. I work on full size cars both as a job and hobby, so tinkering with much smaller scale things at a fraction of the cost is enjoyable for me. When the big car breaks at the track, it's hundreds or thousands of dollars. When the rc breaks, its usually less than fifty dollars. Also you should see dude perfects videos of them jumping an e-revo, theirs seemed to have held up fine in stock form on massive jumps.
@outsourcedrc5 жыл бұрын
Your V1 E Revo sounds a lot like mine. I'm still running stock sevos on it. Dude Perfect do break their E Revos. If you watch, you can see that sometimes they do things like break A Arms when they land. You can see the wheels dangling. They edit the videos to look awesome, not to be reality.
@cam872k35 жыл бұрын
@@outsourcedrc I personally haven't done any huge jumps. Even when I do jumps like in your video, I crank up the springs for more ride height to try to get more cushion before it bottoms out. I broke an a-arm shortly after buying mine, but it was because I hit a curb at an angle where the arm contacted the curb directly, I replaced the arms with rpm ones. I'm glad you did this video, as I am considering getting a gen2 revo, or a rustler 4x4. I want both, but the boss is in charge of the money, and she won't let me buy both at once. I tried telling her that it would be hers, but she wasn't buying that.

I got the stampede 4x4 and the e revo. Got the revo brand new for 500. Id take the revo by far over the stampede. Revo has upgraded axles, has a nice hex design for the wheels, they wont ever circle out like several of my stampede wheels did. Revo can take 3s lipos alot better than the stampede. Revo is bigger and bigger is definitely more fun. Especially that tire size for off roading and snow. So more ground clearance if you stiff up your shocks

I have the 2.0 and my wife has the rustler 4x4. Theyre both great rigs. Shes only broken an axle carrier and ive only broken the spoiler mount. Theyre both great fun but, my choice is the 2.0 every time. I love the size and the power. But, i did just pick up a used 4x4 slash that im gonna put the stock 2.0 power system into... I might create a new favorite, lol
@joellofquist25375 жыл бұрын
Adam Bahnsen I just did that with my slash 4x4 it’s plenty fast on 3s with a 17 tooth pinion for bashing can’t imagine it on 6s.... their are some supporting mods you weld need to consider looking into at that much power diffs and center drive shaft and universal axles motor I’d say a aluminum motor mount ... but it is a straight drop in you would just need to relocate the radio box to the front the vxl3s system just can’t take the heat from the gearing is like to use it hit 200F in ten minutes on the 17tooth 32p

Ok so I am thinking about getting an rc car, but I am kind of new to it. I am between the erevo and the rustler. I am leaning toward the erevo, but really don’t want to be fixing things all the time. I really like the features on the erevo though! Any advice on which I should purchase? I’ve heard the erevo is pretty durable with the brace and limiting straps.
