Yeah, they've got the 4 most important band qualities nailed down........Which explains why it took so long for the elitist douchers at the R&R Hall of fame to even notice them. Its also why they shouldn't have been inducted in the first place, because they deserve better than to be lumped together with cheesy fad-bands like Bon Jovi and Green Day.

Its interesting that Geddy mentions the "bad hair" as something he wishes he never did. Every time I watch the video for "Time Stand Still" - a great song & still a cool video, I wonder what he was thinking with the hair. 😂👍. But, I'm not judging. I went with a mullet for several years myself, back then. Hard to believe that he finds any of Rush's music undesirable. I've seen them 'live' several times, & I've been calling Rush - Canada's only, true "super-band" for years. Just watch 'Rush in Rio'. They could fill a stadium - anywhere - in the world. P.S. I'm beginning to believe that if you want a long, healthy marriage and a wonderful family life, you'd have to move to Canada cause these men sure were raised right. All still married. I think they learned this respect for their spouses from the family who raised them. The term, "you were raised right" certainly applies to all three. Geddy is a gem as well as his best friends. No drugs or alcohol for them. They're not wearing faces that belies drug abuse and that is rare in a rock band. Look at the stones who all look twenty years older than they are and you'll see the ravages of abuse. For what I see, I can't find even a hint of anything suspicious and that's because they were raised right.
@karenhansen24404 жыл бұрын
Marilyn Catalano I agree they seem to have maintained pretty level headed lives, but they most certainly have done some drugs, there’s interviews about them talking about doing hash back in the day and ‘Passage To Bangkok’ is a drug reference song. Also, Geddy is a wine aficionado. He collects wine (Alcohol is a drug, for the record). Additionally, you can be “raised right” and still end up with substance abuse problems. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like any of them had any major struggles with abusing substances, but to imply it’s just a matter of being raised correctly, is sheer ignorance. Viewing it as a moral issue, rather than a disorder of the brain is outdated and incorrect.
@marilyncatalano64784 жыл бұрын
@@karenhansen2440 first of all, I can and did say what I want. I don't need a tutorial on abuse, alchohl or drugs. I do NOT believe hash is a drug in the worst case scenario. They drank a little but so do most young people. Their record speaks for itself and they didn't do Crystal meth or heroin I believe. Just hash (recreationally). They all looked very healthy so I don't believe anyone had a drug problem. Unless your an addition counselor who likes to cram down our throats that a drug, is a drug, is a drug. Speaking about something I have been doing as a teenager then I fell in love with heroin and that drug brought me to my knees for twenty years and I lost my great career. My face doesn't scream drug abuse and I'm not a typical addict as I went to work everyday for years until the gorilla on my back had me get into treatment and I did but it took three times to get clean but when I came home, family thought I was golden for getting sober. These guys faces looked very healthy. Like I said and meant, just saying they may have smoke weed, well that's great. There is no strong indication of a horrible abuse of minor experimentation. They were a very respected group of men that was Jimmy Page heroin addict .my favorite band led Zeppelin play high like I saw three times and page and Jimmy was wasted that he could lift his nesdll

Marilyn Catalano of course you can say whatever you want. I have the same right. I simply disagree with your opinion that being “raised right” is the primary reason people don’t have addiction issues, but I’m not getting into a heated debate with you over it. Best of luck to you.

What is lost is the art of going into the studio and playing live to tape (with some double tracking). And doing it all without autotune or ProTools. A lot of bands, back in the day, also used session musicians on their recordings, sometimes uncredited. What amazes me is when a band plays like every member could be a 1st call session player. Many bands play just well enough to get by, but Rush, much like The Police, have to work super hard to fill out that sound as a trio. That puts them on par with the greats. I'm not the kind of person who declares one band or guitarist is, "the best ever" because style is subjective, but they are certainly masters of their craft.

Me, too. I like that it sounds like it's from a Martial Arts movie.

It is so good to be an avid fan of Rush, it is hard to comprehend that Geddy would think negatively of anything they've done. I find myself playing Tai Shan almost anytime I visit that album - so even if he does not like it, it is excellent.

I am so happy hear that someone I admire so much, and with a boat load of musical credibility, Geddy, shares a decided lack of enthusiasm for Lou Reed. Lou Reed is the single greatest "no talent" to ever stain a stage.

I never understood the big deal about Lou Reed either. I find nothing appealing about him.
