It's the same thing with a Michael Jackson or maybe Freddie Mercury. Fantastic at their job, possibly the best in their genre at the time, but if you look into their personal lives it all becomes a nightmare. Tom Cruise has made a lot of odd films, but he does SEEM to give them all his 100%, which is something the damn films coming out now could use.

I like hearing film industry people discuss the mechanics of story. One of the most film educational experiences I’ve had was watching Roger Ebert do the DVD commentary for Dark City. Fascinating. I’d love to hear Tom Cruise do the commentary for a film like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Or maybe the Prestige.

My first time watching this movie l had the nagging feeling l should know who Less Grossman was. But just couldn't figure it out. It wasn't until he started dancing at the very end before l shouted out "it's Tom Cruise!" 😅 This is his finest performance, in my opinion, because he so dissappeared into the character.
