We are Diamond Plus now on Royal and let me add this to anyone who is reading and is maybe a new cruiser. You will have 2 wildly different food experiences on Royal. First, on ships like this which are Oasis class and newer classes; and all the others. We are on Voyager right now and lots of new Texas cruisers who sail out of Galveston that have been watching the Royal Marketing machine convince everyone all their ships are new and like Icon. It’s not true. Be careful of your decision as to what you want to do. The new MDR food menus are dreadful in our opinion, so you’ll want more restaurant options and pay up. MDR is becoming the inside cabin class of eating.

We have also been disappointed that the quality of food we used to get in the MDR now takes paying extra for a specialty restaurant. It's not a good change for cruisers. We're sailing on Celebrity in January. It will be interesting to see if there's any difference.

Nope. No Celebrity in Galveston right now.☹️ The interesting ships there now, I think, are Regal Princess, NCL Prima, and CCL Jubilee. Worth checking them out!

@@justwatching190 they have! The classics are broiled salmon, chicken breast, and grilled New York sirloin steak. Just a warning…our traveling friends didn’t have good results with the steak. The chefs were overcooking routinely. 😕

Yes! Several times for our early RCI cruises. She was ported in Galveston, which is an easy drive for us, and saved money. One of our favorite ships!

😂 they do have “regular” coffee in all eating venues. Not sure what brand. My husband actually enjoys Starbucks Pike, but we have drink vouchers. If we didn’t, he’d be drinking the included coffee, for sure!

Embarkation day, we ate outside. It was a beautiful day. The rest of the week was too chilly for me. 😂 There were other folks sitting out there all week, though.
