Mam, I too have the Samsung oven just bought 2 months before...but dont know why...the crusty plate slides when kept over the high or low rack grill...and it keeps rubbing to the ceramic body... Due to which the ceramic coating got many scratches... Is it allowed to use the crusty plate over the Grill racks...or have to use the grills over the crusty plate?

Metal racks cannot be used in microwave mode, but can be used in combi mode. Atleast user's manual of my oven says so.. also to give crispiness to fries, grill would be required.

All micro ovens can't grill u have to buy convention oven where u can heat grill and bake . In micro mode only use safe bowls . In grill and convention mode u can use any metals but should not use micro bowls . Else sparks will create if u put in wrong modes understand properly before using .

For this recipe, combi mode of microwave & grill is used. Microwave settings will always be in terms of watts, not temperature. And for grill, only time has to be set. Hope this helps.

In user manual of my oven, it's mentioned that metal racks can be used in combi mode (microwave + grill OR microwave + convection). Better to check manual of your oven once before proceeding.

Yes, as far as it is microwave safe. If it isn't metal plate, you might need to flip the fries after half cooking cycle to make them crispy on both the sides.

It may be because of potatoes being over boiled before baking. Quality of fries also depend on type of potatoes.
