What type of ammo do you use, and does most use it? It is said that you have to take off 60% of the hogs just to keep them from having more the next year. I then heard that maybe only 2% is taken from helicopters, how much do you think you take out, percent wise?

I shoot a 300 ham’r in a ar15 platform. The hog numbers are highly exaggerated and a sow in the wild doesn’t have as many piglets as they claim they do. If I hunt a place pretty hard it doesn’t take long and I can see a major reduction in the hog population

Is there any specific hog you shoot first ? How far away are you to get them on first shot ? How dangerous are they to humans? I apologize as I live in Canada and so far I don't think we have this problem ,yet

It's best to focus on the medium sized ones, they're most likely to be females, and taking them out is the best way to reduce the hog population. Shooting the biggest ones, the males, won't do much because one boar can replace at least 50 others in the mating game. What I would do, is set up a mash of grains, water and yeast, and let it ferment for a week or so, then put it out for the hogs to get really drunk on. Then they won't be able to move real fast and be much easier to shoot. If you can manage to get them drunk enough, they will pass out and you don't even need a bullet then, just walk up and slit their throat while they sleep! That is a much more efficient way to do it!
