No one can run a complex industrial economy on intermittent electricity.

Not even the Germans can do it.

We should have built power stations decades ago Medupi and kusile were nothing more than a feeding frenzy

ESKOM must not complain, they started load shedding! Many businesses closed, many people lost their jobs, poverty increased because of political interference!

I been off their grid over 3 years now. No gennie, just solar properly sized. Rainy weather no problem. Every household that wants cheap electricity should do this too. My costs extrapolated over the life of the system are R894 per month regardless of how much l use

I have questions. What is the costs of your Panels? How many panels did you opt for ? What is the life expectancy of your battery cells ? How much are your batteries? How long does it take for you to harvest a full battery? Most importantly since you’re completely of the grid what do you do when there’s rain for extended periods of time ?

I wish we could build a 5GW nuclear plant than the suggested 2.5GW. In the long term it will pay off, we must never ever experience load shedding.
@58011600520862 күн бұрын
Remember, the loadshedding was caused by the cadres allowing their theft to go overboard. They have reigned it in a bit now assisted by 6GW of private residential and private commercial solar that equates to 3 stages of LS. Over 1400 companies closed last year. The demand is reduced to around 24GW down from around 56GW pre-1994 Makes you think het?

Some are proposing gen 4 nuclear at $3 million per MW and in less than 3 years for SMR soon... Thats much cheaper than renewables for consistent power.

The public sector increased with a large burden on taxpayers, incompetent officials who cannot provide services! Policies and politicians caused all this to happen!

With 2,5% envisaged nuclear generation, there is a glimmer of hope that our country will consistently move away from loadshedding .

We as South Africans are taxed left and right. We even have an AI at SARS babysitting our asses! Collecting taxes because the humans can’t do their jobs. Somehow we managed to build all of this over the years the grid. You can see how old the group of people are, they don’t give a damn about what happens after their pockets have been filled with salaries and they have their pension!🙂 The dirty air and pollution would not bother the older folks because they don’t have to live with it for long. We as the younger generation need to fix all of this shit that the previous generations, because the answer from the older folks leading is a bit disconcerting. They are investing in energy that kills the people that use it. Clearly they don’t give a damn. I have seen private entities generate more clean energy than Eskom. They care about the bottom lines yet it disappears into the void somehow? Fixing everything with a temporary fix isn’t very bright. Fix your shit, maintain your shit and build cleaner options. This crap has been going on for long enough. You mean to tell me that we as the most intelligent species on this rock and the eggheads didn’t realise the trends? We pay tax. We do not have to listen to the constant excuses. We need to see some results!
