OVER 35? TRY THESE UNDER-EYE CONCEALER TIPS & TRICKS | over 40 makeup

These are great tips! I have a PSA for people with fair to light skin and dark under eye circles. Not that anyone wants my advice, lol, but I highly recommend trying the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in the shade “Brightener.” (Joah has the same thing in the shade brightener - can get at CVS). These are essentially a pink color and it’s the only product I’ve ever found that neutralizes the dark circles. If you are fair to light skin it will not overly brighten your under eye as the name implies. It just gets rid of the darkness and literally blends right into my foundation. I’m similar skin tone to Gemma. It looks straight up pink coming out of the bottle, but once on your dark circles the pink disappears. I don’t like using a separate color corrector with a concealer because it’s too much product and frankly doesn’t work as well as the maybelline. Literally I’ve tried a ton of concealers, high end and drug store, and no “high coverage” concealer has ever covered my dark circles like this pink stuff. I do tend to use two layers and let it sit briefly before blending to get better coverage, like Gemma suggested. It’s a corrector and concealer in one. Both the maybelline and Joah have the annoying sponge tip applicators but just use a separate small brush to apply right in the trough of the eye bag where the darkness is. Don’t spread it around everywhere. Just on the darkness. :) Gemma, I learned some new tricks from you in this video. Thanks!

I really didn't know that the concealer has to be dry before setting! I thought just the opposite. I thought that you had to set right after powder to try and defer from getting crepy and cakey. I'll be trying this next time. Ty Gemma!

I trust what you say because your mum’s makeup always looks perfect, and I’m probably closer to her age! I’m a chemist so I’m always playing around mixing things, comparing ingredients - for example, Lancôme’s newer mascara in the pink tube has virtually the SAME ingredients as Maybelline Sky High but it costs 3 times as much! I prefer cream concealer because even hydrating liquid concealers feel dry on me.

I really like the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Extra Light Bisque. Creamy, not greasy, and it really does correct and brighten. I then apply concealer and a tiny bit of Mercier Secret Brightening Powder.

I bought a Makeup Revolutopn concealer that was too dark when I got it home. It was good but a little too dark. I saw another KZbinr that did the same thing and used her darker color with a lighter color and it worked. So I tried that with the Kokie concealer that's all little dryer but good. The Makeup Revolution concealer is creamy and they work great together. So I agree with you. I'm glad that I kept the darker concealer. Thanks for the video!

My go to concealer combo has been, I start with putting on the revolution eye bright concealer, it's super hydrating but not enough coverage, then I go in with just a small amount of the nyx bare with me concealer serum, then I set it with the smallest amount of loose powder using a wet beauty blender. But I will definitely have to experiment with your tips now! Thanks for an amazing video as always!

I have crepey dry undereyes and 2 concealers I have found that work good and are totally different from each other are georgio Armani power fabric concealer and a dewy concealer I love is the Juvia’s place concealer! Love them both

I keep trying different concealers. I never thought of mixing them! Thanks for such a good tip. Since I was eleven years old, my under eye circles have been blue gray. I remember “borrowing” my mothers tube concealer. Color correcting does help.

I very rarely use powder, but when I do, I make sure the concealer is dry; but I see everyone applying it directly under their eyes and I as well. I use very very little under my mature 60 yr old eyes. LOL but I for sure will start applying on back of hand and then applying. That makes sooo much sense. Thank you lovely. Right now my favorite concealers are the YSL or the Lancome. Lately I have been preferring the YSL and I stopped using powder to set my eyes because no matter how little is applied, it brings out creases that I didn't have before I started. Instead, I spray my ring fingers with some Urban Decay all nighter setting spray and tap it in until it has dried. Now my eyes have no creases and my concealer stays put all night long in Florida humidity.

Maybe I can suggest something to help you. Awhile back a content creator (Angie, I think) had created several videos in one day and was experiencing voice fatigue and talked about a product you use. If you get some lessons from the right vocal coach, you won’t need the product anymore. When I’ve got my “chops” (my coach’s term), I can talk or sing for hours on end day after day without strain or loss of vocal quality. I hope you don’t find this advice presumptuous. The intention is to help not criticize. If you decide to pursue it, I’d love to hear about your experience.

Oh I laughed when I saw the Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment w/Avocado as I've been using this for about 3 months now. I love it & how hydrating it is on such a delicate skin area. The Pat McGrath Perfection Concealer & setting powder are great. I use those the most. Especially the powder as I can use it w/any concealer. I haven't tried the Fenty concealer, but do like the Lancôme. My blue veins seem to be more prominent the more my skintone is evened out. I feel translucent like white tissue paper sometimes. Lol Thank you for another fun & always informative video on a part of my face that is more important than the rest to get a spot on application. Just received the Niod Hydration Vaccine. The directions say to apply before any other creams and/or sunscreen formulations. Is that what you’re doing? Great tips Gemma and they obviously work on dark circles or discoloration but I have loose skin (dare I say bags 😲) which creates a shadow and for the life of me I cannot disguise them. I've tried various combinations of corrector and concealer without success. Any suggestions 🙏?

I just got a patch of eczema pop up right under my left eye below the lashline and I am at a loss what to do for it. I have had it on my chin before but never here and I'm not sure how to exfoliate this delicate area and my thick moisturizer I use for eczema is getting in my eye! Yikes!
