Make some TurboGrafx16(PC Engine) version of some of these games and you would have better color and better sound.

My experience in homebrew development found that many homebrew games look dull, if not terrible, because the people working on them refuse even free help with sprite, tile, and level design, and will claim to solicit suggestions and recommendations, but reject everything.
