The 80's were so cool. The music was awesome, the cars were fast, and the women were gorgeous! People didn't work to barely survive they worked to buy toys like ski boats, motor bikes, or jet skis. We cruised the strip or went to the movies on Friday night, then went to the lake on Saturday, and still went to church on Sundays.
@jasonridenour672
@jasonridenour672 7 ай бұрын
I agree with all that but the fast cars part. The 80’s was a dead period for performance outside of a couple models.
@Phdintheory
@Phdintheory 7 ай бұрын
@jasonridenour672 True. However, driving restored or "classic" muscle cars in the 80's when "cruising" was still done in many areas around the US was very popular. The town where I spent the best of those years was a town in Washington state called Puyallup. (Pew all up) We had what some would call the perfect cruising loop. It was a 1 1/2 mile one way through town and a turnaround at the end to go back and do it all again. People came from all over to cruise it. Friday and Saturday nights that strip was completely bumper to bumper. With cars all along the way in every parking lot and parking space. Windows down, stereos up, girls with hair as tall as the sunroof, guys with shorts sleeves, and hair as long as the girls all having a blast while looking to hook up with someone for the night. I'm telling you, those were the days, man. I would give anything to be able to relive 1983-1987 again exactly the way it was. Great frickin' times man! :)

Time goes so fast. When I see these - even though they are simply capitalism personified - they remind me of my youth passed, and time when I had so much less to worry about. A naive ignorance, but hopefulness. When I think of how I just go through the motions day after day sometimes, and take minutes-hours-days for granted... Well, this is a good reminder to appreciate what's happening now. Who I love, and every breath I get to take.

80s commercials, where every scene looks like it was shot through a layer of Vaseline. The dreamy look wasn't just a lack of technological sophistication but a deliberate artistic choice. This soft focus and ethereal aesthetic tapped into the decade's obsession with glamour and excess, suggesting that even the most mundane products could transport you to a world of fantasy and luxury. Essentially, it was visual comfort food for a consumerist appetite.
