Some people do that because they don't want to get caught up with that bullshit. They don't want to be a participant because next thing you know you got the Feds asking you questions and potentially tying you into the situation. Some people won't say anything but things can get sloppy and messy and next thing you know it's out in the open. You can't fully blame this guy because things probably got out of order and careless to a point it became detrimental to his work environment and probably pushed him to say something about it. This situation most likely cut both ways.

These companies are quick to deflect attention and not accept responsibility. They'll throw employees under the bus in the blink of an eye to save themselves from litigation.

Two things can be true at the same time. He felt an obligation to speak up as something wasn’t right to him. He knew what he was giving up and was his personal conviction. Half a mil is a lot to walk away from. I don’t even know if I’ve made that in the entire time I’ve been working!!! I think if it wasn’t affecting me personally, I would have let it tf go.
