I like the 2x4 half lap construction. I used that method years ago building benches but got sidetracked into the current preference for the plywood kitchen cabinet style for shop builds. After watching your video I am definitely going back to dimensional lumber for these kind of builds. Good video series.

Are you at Carson? Would love a set of plans for this....I live in the Springs if that's where you're stationed. Looks great!

I am stationed at Carson. I’m actually deployed at the moment, but we should be coming home soon. Thanks for the kind words! Build plans are available on my Etsy store; Etsy handles the electronic delivery of the PDF, so I don’t have to worry about it when I don’t have service, which is really nice.

Well stay safe...I was in Iraq 09-10, Kandahar from 13-14 and again from 15-18. Let me know when you get back, I would love to see your setup and talk some more. Hooah!

This is my second trip to Afghanistan. I spent about two months in Helmand with a couple of trips to Kandahar. I’d love to meet up when I get back. My wonderful wife just bought us a new house, so it will be a minute before the shop gets set up, we have to move first, but I’m excited. I get more efficient every time I move because I can remedy past mistakes. I bought a Shapeoko Pro XXL while I was over here, so I’m excited to build an enclosure and add that functionality to the shop too.

Curious if you considered pull-out shelves on the bottom level as well to ease getting tools in/out, especially towards the rear?

I did consider that, and I still might. I figured the bottom shelf would be for more long term storage, but as I use it more and more, I can see how useful that feature would be.

Do you have an email where I can ask questions and such? I am in the Army as well and really enjoy your videos/plans. We recently moved to Georgia and once my tools arrive I will be buying the CNC table and miter station plans from your Etsy page. I look forward to speaking with you and learning more! I’d like to know more about the software you use with the Shapeoko. I’m currently running their basic software and want to step it up. Keep the videos coming!

Hey! Thanks for your interest in my build plans. Hit me up on Etsy when you are ready to purchase the plans. I consider questions / consultation part of the purchase when you buy my plans; I usually respond the same day to any build questions. I can give you my contact information from there if it's just too hard to text back and forth. I use Fusion360 for all my my design and g-code generation. I never learned Carbide Create. I do use Carbide Motion to run the Shapeoko though.
