In the language of the locals, I'm "From Away." I was not born an Islander but I can recall wanting to be one since childhood. I grew up in New Brunswick. My father was military so most of my formative years were spent between Oromocto, where my father served at CFB Gagetown and Fredericton, where my Grandparents lived, (affectionately known as Granny and Grand-Dad.) Summer vacations as far as my father was concerned meant "Camping." I'll never understand why a man who spent his working career in a tent, would choose to spend more time in one while on vacation. Fundy and Kuchamaquack (yes, I butchered that spelling) National Park were great places to visit, but the Crown Jewel was always Prince Edward Island. My Grandparents first brought me to this Island in 1977. For me it was a different world, a magical place right down to its red soil. My memories of childhood were made here, on these beaches and grassy dunes. Life moves ever onward. I, like my father before me joined the military. I was posted to a base in Western Canada and life along with circumstances kept me there until 2014. I came home to New Brunswick to say goodbye to a very influential part of my life. My Grand-Dad, the man I aspire to be like, passed away. There is a picture on the mantel piece in my Grandparents front room. It's of my Granny and Grand-Dad sitting on fold out chairs on a beach in Cavendish, PEI. Home for me now is a small house in Western Prince Edward Island. Home is made of memories, my best memories were made here. I may be "From Away." but I'm home now, and the best part is, I can go for a walk with my Grand-Dad on the beach later on.

As a New Yorker who has been visiting the island since the days when there were two ferries and no bridge, I must confess to being slightly disappointed not to see the East Point lighthouse and Souris two of the island’s many hidden gems. Still this is a wonderful effort! It’s P.E.I’s version of Walt Disney World.s Soarin’. Well-done!

What about weather there ? Is there freezing cold for months in winter ?
@Scathingly4 жыл бұрын
@@amjadpervaiz9144 - Now that I'm old and weathered I find the winters go on FOREVER, but if ya have any stock in oil, you root for those months between mid-late October all the way to the end of May. Also rooting for winter are the kids. Yeah, they enjoy the summers and a respite from their studies, BUT winter--glorious winter--and they enter another realm of joy. My absolutely best season is the fall--- BEEE----UU--TE---FUL!!!! As for spring, never experienced that season here on PEI. One day it's freezing cold and the next your bang into summer. Okay, let's talk summer. If I'm in an air conditioned car and tooling around the Island enjoying its immense beauty, summer is my kind of season. But spending a day outdoors enjoying the sunshine, perhaps even tweaking my garden, NOPE--hate the heat; hate the mosquitoes, hate the ants. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Which brings me directly to the point. Islanders are tough, resilient, resourceful, spunky, and laid back. Don't hear too much complaining here--about anything really. They leave the bitching and griping to people like me who've never had to match wits with Mother Nature. Bottom line, when push comes to shove the Islander will survive--haven't met a wimp among them yet.

a beautiful country but only from the sky. I came from a 3rd world country in the Middle East. I thought Canada is a developed and first-world country like European countries, the US, Japan, South Korea, Australia, News Land, and Singapore with the western standard, and also I thought is one of the best. The first time 2018 I arrived in Vancouver, I was shocked. I saw a lot of homelessness, trash, crime, ugly urbanism, and rusty houses in downtown and east Vancouver. I saw, homeless people, pooping and peeing everywhere and it's so common. nobody cares. I was shocked again. I endured for 3 years but every day going worst. late in 2022I decided to move to the east coast because I thought that place has a stronger culture. I chose Montreal. I had heard it is the capital of art and civilization in Canada. it was absolutely wrong. Canada is Canada. I was shocked again, again, and again. the wave of homelessness, graffiti, vandalism, bad smell, terrible infrastructure especially roads in or out of the city, and above all, you can see trash everywhere. plastic bags, tissues, water bottles, and disposable cups. You cannot see any street or park or public place without these. This is impossible. surprisingly nobody cares. neither the people nor the government!!!!!!! please, don't be fooled by the advertisement about a good Canada. please, be careful. most of the things about a good Canada are deception.
