Over Ring Accelerator Demonstration

I drove for the first time using this device and I found it so much easier than trying to drive with a left foot accelerator pedal. It barely took much effort using the controls and I found I didn’t think about it as much as I did with the left foot accelerator. I didn’t need to use my feet to control anything. It has definitely given me my independence back to be able to drive again as I have a drop foot which means I can’t lift my foot to control pedals. This device is very expensive but it means I can drive again. 😊🚗💨

The video is very helpful thank you and the over the ring accelerator with brake system is a big help for me. I had been learning to drive an adapted car with a left foot accelerator, it was quite complicated because my head could not get around the fact the clutch was now the accelerator. I tried hard to persevere but I had to make a decision to try the over the ring accelerator because I felt I was going to either end up having an accident or being too scared to drive. The over the ring accelerator is also easier for me as I feel more in control and can focus on the road, not what my left leg is trying to do. Everyone adapts differently and have their own preference but if you get the opportunity to try an over the ring accelerator, give it a try.😊🚗💨👍

I know this is a few years old, but how much was this product? I can't find prices anywhere. There is simply no need for me to contact the company if the price is not even in my price range or consider it. A price or range of prices would be nice on their website.

@@Skirkly I had to pay £750 through a shop that was doing these for Motability car adaptations. There are other types/brands with different prices but the guido simplex over ring accelerator was what they assessed me with. I had to have my fitness to drive reassessed due to my leg issues so I had to have 10 lessons through a neurorehabilitation unit before I was allowed to drive with this. I am aware there were two types I was told about, a battery operated one and a one connected to the car electrics itself which both vary in prices. If you are in the UK, a company called Bewick Motability who was based in Blaydon (Tyne and Wear) do these different types.

Thank you so much for these videos - hadn't realised until this that you can switch back to pedals! I have an arthritic right knee, so need this to use so that I can drive further, without worrying how I will get back if the arthritis kicks in. Especially useful to see 'ghost' and 'over' rings. It seems more 'natural' to push to accelerate, so will look further into 'over' ring. Thanks again

Would it work better if the steering wheel pushed forward to accelerate instead of the middle ring.

Ashley - there are relatively few cars where it's straightforward to fit the brake on the left hand side. The Carospeed may be a better option - details also on our website.

These are the contrils i learnt with 30 years ago but i took the more complicated option of a manual gearbox aswell to be honest i dont know how i used them let alone passed with them it was a nightmare especially with a manual you need 3 pairs of hands. These days i drive with the much simpler push pull control lever with a steering ball and auto gearbox.

Good video but many people need to know for which car is possible this system . I found this system working only in few model cars but not on the vans .

Thanks for the video. Very useful information. Is it possible to just have the ring accelerator as l can use the brake with my foot. I would just like the accelerator as l cannot keep my right foot on that pedal for very long. This looks like a much better system than some l have seen .

It is possible to fit just the ring accelerator but we would recommend that anybody thinking of doing that arranges to have an assessment to confirm that it's a good solution.

Buen vídeo! Pero con todos mis respetos esa adaptación es muy pésima, para hacer maniobras que tanto cuesta a las personas discapacitadas, para hacer curvas cerradas es peligrosa puesto que puedes acelerar por erro y con el tiempo acaba siendo problemática.. no la recomiendo.
