Over the Horizon Radar... This song, I've listened to it on the loop for day's on end.. I had a counter on my old Sony Ericsson walkman that showed how many times one has listened to a particular track... Over The Horizon Radar was one of the favourites, I've listened to it for over a 4500 times. I used to, just use my earphones, plug them in, play this track and listened to it on the loop... It sort of helped me to get into this trance state, of sadness and depression, melancholy.. Myself personally, do not associate this track neither with joy or happiness nor with sadness or depression.. It was blissfully melancholic, that sort of state, where you let go of your dreams, let go of hope, embrace the reality of your pitiful existence, embrace the pain and suffering and sadness and find joy through that... I miss those days...

This feels like reflecting on the past and realizing that you will never get those old friends back and that your life will never be that good again.

Friday, March 31st, 7:AM. Today was the day we were heading home from my aunt’s place. I hadn’t got any sleep that night, but I took comfort in knowing that I could rest when I returned after the 5 hour drive. Nobody else was awake besides me and my aunt at the time. She gave me a glass of water for my troubles, and I just sat on the couch looking outside. I could see our truck in the middle of the frigid landscape outside, gets really cold in the city my aunt lives in. I watched the sky get brighter as smoke rose from the chimneys of the neighbouring homes. I wondered what those other people’s lives were like, and that freedom from my sleep deprivation would greet me once I came home. All in the process, I listened to this, realizing that all the little moments in life were simply beautiful. This song reminds me of that morning, it fills me with a sense of warmth and comfort, and I’m happy I could experience that moment, no matter my circumstances.

I remember commenting this on a now deleted video for this song, and I don't want to forget it, so, I'll try to re-tell it as best as I can from memory: "This story just came to my mind when I listened to this song for the first time: Two people, friends, maybe. They have feelings for each other, but they are too afraid to confess their feelings. One day, they decide to hang out at the park, and after walking for a while, they decide to sit down, just in time for the sunset. And they can't take it anymore, they don't kiss, they don't hug, they just quietly hold hands. Just a soon-to-be couple giving their silent confession to each other."

This music puts me in a different world. I'm floating in the sky. I'm all alone. There is nobody in the universe. I'm there with nothing but my thoughts.... looking at the horizon. I'm thinking about those who have passed. I'm watching, waiting. Thinking about their legacy. The lives they lived. The things they did. Will I see them again? I may never know.
