If you think about it both Old and New Aqours performing alongside Saint Snow would nullify pretty much everything the movie built up including those in season 2, Aqours is about finding their own “shine” or in this case their own identity without relying much on the 3rd years(Original Aqours) and Saint Snow disbanded, Leah wanted to start a new group all by herself but Sarah was secretly planning on having Leah transfer to Numazu so she can group up with Aqours without facing any more struggles, but of course both Leah and Ruby are against this because it contradicts everything they have built up which is to become independent to those they rely on

I second that. They chose the wrong song to close out the movie with. Like this is Bokutachi levels of good. The song itself is amazing, it acts as a final goodbye to everyone in this arc (since even though Aquors still exists, we’re no longer going to be a part of their journey) and it has an amazing message of even if you separate from the people you care about, as long as you remain close, you’re sure to meet again someday. Their actual pick for the final song makes no sense considering that it was supposed to be a song with the new six member Aquors, but then the third years get involved again. If they were going to shoehorn the third years into the final song anyway, why not make it a song that literally has the same name as the movie?
