This is absolutely beautiful. I think your tempo is perfect. I've decided that for my next recording session I will largely ignore the marked tempos and just play things how they sound right...I get the feeling that they sometimes slapped the same tempo marking on many different rolls without considering the music. It would already feel very rushed to sing it at 75. Also, I wanted to say, that chord at 0:08... wow. It might be a mistake, but if it is, it's a beautiful and poignant one. I think the three you mentioned would be smiling on you for all the kindness you spread, and the way you lovingly take care of the family piano. Thank you always for sharing it with the world!

Your comment is gold to me. ❤ This was the fourth recording I made due to tempo issues. It might be a little faster than the Garland version, but there's a particular Frank Sinatra version I really like, and he sang it at about this tempo. I have never really thought about them just slapping on any old tempo stamp... but I think you're absolutely right. It's just way too fast in this case, and I'll look forward to your next posts with the tempo of your choosing. You're very keen musically. We would all benefit from your personal settings. I hadn't even singled out the :08 chord as anything special, but in listening closer, it's a unique chord for sure. To those it's dedicated to, they are never far away, and I like to think they can see all rainbows in colors we can't comprehend presently.
