I dont see how they wouldnt have come together again for atleast a short time if he didnt get killed. Apparently in 1980 they were all sorta open to playing together again other than George, but if the other 3 were determined they couldve convinced him. I dont know how long it wouldve lasted probably not long but it wouldve happened.
@lonedrone20 күн бұрын
John's opinion about Beatles songs varied, almost from day to day. He once said he wasn't happy with the recording of any of his songs and would have done them differently, which of course must have hurt George Martin. But then again GM knew John quite well and knew that he didn't really mean it.
@lonedrone20 күн бұрын
@@zumptt Yes, in some form or other they would have reunited (for a concert, a record or maybe a video). George - as you say - was the biggest obstacle. But if John was in, George would be too.

I really enjoyed your Video. I lived the entire era, I really like hearing bits and pieces I’ve never heard before. John was more complicated than most. Even cynical…often misunderstood. I think he was a genius. The fact he was able to write with Paul so well helped ALL of us! Two Brilliant People feeding off each other. I cried the night he was killed. So senseless! I cried when JFK, Bobby, and MLK were killed. I’m fortunate to have been alive when the Beatles broke out in 1964 in America. 🇺🇸 I’m grateful I experienced the Beginning and the End to the Beatles in America. John, Paul, George, and Ringo. WOW! What a combination! Thank you Brian Epstein and Special Thanks to George Martin… Billy Preston, and Eric Clapton! ❤

John may have not said a lot of compliments to Paul personally but he said a lot of compliments about him to other people throughout years. A lot of people are so focused on his criticism right after the break-up that they ignore that John complimented Paul more than anyone in his life. He loved a lot of his songs, he called him the most innovative bass guitarist and a great musician, he said Paul is capable of masterful lyrics, he often told his friends musicians that Paul could have done it better whenever they showed him their work (sorry to those guys lol) and, most importantly, he always said that the only partner he chose in his life before Yoko, was Paul and that's because he recognized his extraordinary talent. It's funny how he believed Hey Jude was for him though lmao I wish he was a bit more appreciative of George's music (both John and Paul tbh) but he still recognized some of his songs later in life. But again, John was hypercritical about his own songs too. After the break up, he shitted on Straberry Fields Forever and Across the Universe and their arrangements but in 1980 he highlighted these two songs specifically.

Thank you Music Box. Anyone from that era has favorites of the Fab Four, after all they made music that was light-hearted, or heavy and thought provoking. Not many artists did that kind of music then. The music scene was mostly jingles and rythm based light fare. The Beatles wrote the soundtrack to our souls. Forever in our hearts. One can only imagine how complicated fame made their lives, and we were their witnesses.
@triplejazzmusicisall188319 күн бұрын
That is so John. To take a song like Hey Jude written for Julian but decide to believe it was about him. As McCartney has told the story behind the song the former was true not the latter. It's a shame John could be so aggressive. I know of dozens of people who had worse childhoods who did not turn out that way. However, John did have a heart it's just his acerbic nature often prevented him from showing it. Remember Paul lot his mother too at a very young age and lived in a much poorer area as did Geroge and especially Ringo. More on positive note this video is quite delightful as it is rare to see a post where John's likes are mentioned. We get so many posts that bang on about what Lennon hated etc, so this is a very refreshing change. It serves John much better as a considered person with soul and it even provided me with a surprise or two. It has made me realise that John could be a kind individual who simply spoke without deception, and often wore his heart on his sleeve.

Thank you for this channel. Interesting hearing John's thoughts on his songs. "All my loving" was my first favorite Beatle song. That album my first introduction to them before the Ed Sullivan show. The songs "I want to hold your hand" and "Help!" I think can explain the Beatle phenomenon in the simplist terms. The act of holding someone's hand and being vulnerable enough to ask for help. Here's something that I think is interesting.. Those who experienced Beatle mania in real time had to wait months for the next album. Now you can get them all on demand instantly.

Nice video. There are a few quotes that lose the original meaning. John did not describe Let It Be and The Long & Winding Road as The Beatles last burst of creativity. He said Paul had a creative spurt at the end and those songs were the last gasp from him. But that was the period where John said he, and probably George too, got sick of being side men for Paul. So they were Paul songs with the rest of the Beatles accompanying him. Very different to the Beatles truly working together with the kind of group integration that was at its height between 1965-66 for example. I think in fairness to Paul, as the Beatles were no longer touring they had longer apart. So Paul would more likely finish a group of songs rather than be half writing them together with John while rushing between concert venues, TV studios or film sets.

...How can I cut Joke Ono from the shown pictures? She wasn't a Beatle! Neither was Jane Asher, but SHE at least was very pretty and intelligent so she knew when to shut up in the studio. I don't think Jane ever met Ohno, by that time she had broken up her engagement with Paul. Good fer her!

The Beatles spawned 12 years or so of the most explosive creativity in music's history. Such a travesty J. Edgar Hoover put Lennon on the top 10 most wanted list, & under the excuse of reasons of national security, forced the consolidation of thousands of radio stations into being owned by 3 entities, allowing them to forcefully 'evolve' music away from the subversive previous 12 years of killer music into f'ing DISCO, then watered down glam & glitter rock, etc. A very unnatural 'evolution' of music.
