+Sabrina Jaine What's really not nice is that they didn't bring back the right girl. I realize it was a public vote but based strictly on merit and talent the wild card should not have been Emilie; it should have been Claire Harbourne.

To all the haters who have written negatively about Emilie, you shouldn't have. Yes she wasn't as strong as the other girls and this song wasn't her style, you need to remember that some of these girls didn't have many qualifications either. Both Danielle and Emilie have both been in Les Mis and have been amazing! People need to remember that this was 6 years ago and people change

I think it's got to do with technique. When you sing, your mouth/throat opens up a bit more than you usually would if you're just speaking. SInce everyone does this, accents tend to disappear. But on certain notes or words when you don't open up, the accent can shine through a bit more. IDK for sure, though. That's just my thoughts.

true, but I wanted her to get through, too, although normally I am really picky on how well in tune people are. But I really felt with her at that opening, because I've listened to her other performances, and she was perfectly in tune then. I think, as her opening was without background instruments at first, she probably used a tuning fork and somehow she got it wrong. I really pitied her, because it must have been extremely embarrassing, especially since normally she was in tune.

+aces high I am a man in my 40's so I couldn't enter for that reason. I absolutely loved this show when I saw it for the first time a few months ago. I like pretty much liked all of the contestants, except for Emilie who I thought absolutely stunk up the joint. I know she has had some success since this show and I am happy for her. That said, back in 2010 on this show she was simply not good and I don't think she belonged in the finals. That is my honest opinion.

I said she "Stunk up the Joint" AFTER she was voted back in as the wildcard. So your counterargument here doesn't make any sense. I have no idea why the British public chose to vote her back in, and that is not my concern. It wasn't the JUDGES who brought her back, and I'm sure you know that. I agree with you that she had the GUTS to enter. More power to her. That said, I will stick by my point that she did not belong in the finals. And if you really believe that she could have won this competition I can see why the word "high" is in your name.

Well, I respectfully disagree with you. I think Danielle Hope was a very worthy winner, although I would not have had a major problem if Sophie Evans had won, and you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I feel very strongly, however, that Danielle was a better actress and dancer than Sophie was and at worst was her equal as a singer. I have nothing against Sophie Evans, and as you know probably know she eventually got to play Dorothy anyways, but personally I liked Danielle, Lauren, Steph, and Jessica more than I liked Sophie. Despite what you may think I am not making these comments because I get some perverse joy out of slagging people. I just have a problem with the British public voting Emilie back into the competition as a wildcard and her becoming a finalist in this way when it was obvious that she simply was not qualified. I honestly think the U.K. version of Over the Rainbow was the single best reality talent show I ever saw (despite my distaste for Emilie), and I have seen almost all shows of this type including "You're the One That I Want" in the U.S., "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria" and "Over the Rainbow" in Canada, "Looking for Evita", "Looking for Joseph", and "Looking for Mary Poppins" in the Netherlands, "Looking for Maria" in Belgium, and "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria", "Any Dream Will Do", "I'd Do Anything", and "Over the Rainbow" in the U.K. I will say without hesitation that Emilie is the single weakest finalist I have ever seen on any of these shows. I actually agree with you that SOME of the venom thrown Emilie's way was uncalled for but that is the chance that any contestant takes when entering one of these shows. They have to be prepared to be scrutinized and criticized by both the judges and the public. It goes with the territory. I will stick by my original position that Emilie's actual performance on this show was poor and that she had no business in the finals.

+Katie Atwell Emilie is NOT a great performer. She was easily the weakest contestant in the finals. In fact I have watched all of these talent shows on KZbin including the ones held in the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, and the U.S. I will say without hesitation that Emilie was the weakest finalist I saw on any of those shows. I do agree with you that this was not a good song for her.
