Rocky and Rambo star Sylvester Stallone gives fans another reason to stand up and cheer. He stars as hard-luck big-rig trucker Lincoln Hawk and takes us under the glaring Las Vegas lights for all the boisterous action of the World Armwrestling Championship in Over the Top (co-scripted by Stallone).

It’s a perfect, typical Rocky type movie. He’s the under dog that you root for & overcomes adversity. I wish the full movie was on KZbin. I came here to watch it one day & found only these short clips. 😒

@Mico Berta It didn't do well at the box office. However, it has gained a cult (like) following throughout the years, which is why it's mentioned in Cobra Kai. Stallone critiques the film by stating that "[he] would have made it less glossy and set it more in an urban environment, for one [and n]ext, [he] would've not used a never-ending stream of rock songs, but scored music instead, and most likely would've made the event in Vegas more ominous - not so carnival-like (Wikipedia)." Personally, I thought the rock music was awesome, I guess he thinks differently because of how it was received at the box office. In similar fashion, Lock Up (1989) didn't do well at the box office, but has also garnered praise throughout the years.

Stallone is excellent in this movie.A longtime absent father trying to make up lost time with his straight-shooting young son.The moments of bonding between Sly & David are heartfelt &,at times,genuinely tear-inducing.Great performances.

Great movie, not a masterpiece but beautiful all the same, I don't understand why the critics panned it. I saw it for the first time when it came out in '87, one of the movies I saw several times in the 80s along with Karate kid and Top Gun. And above all I saw it in 2008, when my wife told me that I would become a father for the first time. Today I still watch it, together with my son.

It was a movie about having second chances...not arm wrestling. Stop and think about it. He was given a second chance with his son who grew up not knowing him and he proved himself with his son. His son grew to love him. The mother knew she was going to die and wanted him to take care of the boy...not the grandfather. It was her dying wish.
