Overband magnet separating steel from copper wire by Magnapower

The Magnapower overband magnet here is being used to separate steel wire from shredded copper wire. The steel comes from armouring on the cable and is released in the shredding process.
This high powered overband magnet is positioned across a vibratory feeder so that when the shredded cable passes underneath the steel is lifted by the magnet and then conveyed off to the side where it discharges out of the magnetic field.
This separator removes a clean wire product with minimal copper loss. It removes almost all steel wire from the copper.
