My patent-pending Overblow-Booster Mk2 opens the way for ALL players to produce great sounding overblows and overdraws on stock harmonicas. I've now adapted the design for the popular Hohner Special 20 harp, with a second 'Limited Signed & Numbered Edition of 25 Harps': #26 - #50.

I'm not a big fan of overblows, neither as a listener or as a player, mostly because they use to sound "unnatural". With that being said, this is by far the most natural, in-tune overblow sound I've ever heard!

Yes: when played as isolated reeds, overblows & overdraws sound like fat, juicy notes, capable of vibrato etc.

So overdraw 8 is the same as regular draw 9 it seems - maybe a microtonal bend in there that's cool? I overblow 4, 5, and 6 nicely these days but for overdraws I'm really excited about this. Though from hearing these notes demonstrated like this for the first time I just did overdraw 7and 9 for the first time - but 10 nope! And they're not a strong like you say as the booster will afford us. Plus OB 1 is really weak for me but I do want it sometimes, yes 🤨

It depends what you mean by 'anything'. The only inflection possible on both 7 blow and 5 draw on a Richter harp is a quartertone bend. This is considerably less expressive than the other 8 notes that bend on a Richter harp, which all bend a semitone or more. In other words, they can all be bent to another usable pitch in the chromatic scale; 7 blow and 5 draw can't. This is what I meant by saying you can't do anything with them. But now the Overblow-Booster gives the possibility of deeper bending and wide vibrato on these unexpressive reeds.

@@BrendanPowerMusic somehow Nic Clark is able to extract flavor out of the 5 draw on a standard richter harp. He’s one of the few though.

I'll wait until you release a Bb - that'll be more applicable for me for the jazz-blues stuffs I'm getting into these days. It does seem like with this wonderful technology one would not particularly need any custom work on a solid Sp 20 which tend to play quite nicely ootb! Might change my mind though a grab one while their avail, have to budget these matters! Having a batch of things from Burke coming back to me soon here

Special 20’s are capable of producing overblows ootb, but not in a way that can be used melodically. It requires reed gapping, and slot embossing at a minimum to be able to use ob/od melodically.
