City name: Beaverton Creek. A beaver was the original source of vanilla flavouring, and it's a vanilla map.......
@lukeueda-sarson6732
@lukeueda-sarson6732 Жыл бұрын
I hate to be "that guy" but vanilla comes originally, ironically enough given it's on OE channel, from orchids native to the central Americas. Vanillin, its main flavor component, is nowadays synthetically produced.
@jeffjeffson9587
@jeffjeffson9587 Жыл бұрын
@@lukeueda-sarson6732That’s why it was called Orchid Bay, I’m pretty sure. Although beavers do secrete Castoreum, it’s used more so in perfumes, and isn’t used as a vanilla alternative; that’s a myth unfortunately.

Since you're using the Highlands map, you should honor the Scottish Highlands and name it Glen Nevis. Glen Nevis is a Glen in Lochaber. It also sits at the base of the highest mountain Ben Nevis. There are 3 massive waterfalls there and they all flow into what becomes known as the Waters of Nevis at the Glen. Below is steep and impressive gorge. Great content as always 🎉

Name suggestion: Kaksi Plains "Kaksi" is Finnish for 2... You know, because Colossal Order is Finnish, and it's C:S2 is, well, version 2... I'm already regretting this idea... And "Plains" because it'll (presumably) be a "plain" vanilla build. No idea if that works with the map, but that's my terrible idea, and I'm sticking with it.
@AntneeUK
@AntneeUK Жыл бұрын
Maybe Kaksi could be the name of the second town in the county instead. Doesn't make so much sense to call the region "Plains" if it's a highland map 😂 That'll teach me to get my suggestion in before watching it 😂

Everything went smoothly until the end where I realized you added an additional residential area near the main highway that you didn't show (along with some detailing over there). Trying to pull a fast one on us already I see. So much fun to have this build alongside two others I am working on. One on Barrier Island and another on Windy Fjords. So much to learn... will be fun to see how this city progresses. PS Is your town very mad about high rent and have a bunch of 'no customers'... I hope I didn't mess up too bad while following along.... LOL.

Egg, I don’t know if you’re planning on having trains in this map/series but if you do can you please consider having the track mostly at ground level? 🙏 I feel like trains are usually on ground level in real life and then the roads are elevated or conforming to the tracks.. Usually in c:s people will raise the trains but it just doesn’t make sense to me 😔😅 Trains are usually there first & they have a lot more constraints when it comes to elevations etc… In c:s2 there is also just a ground level station so it makes more sense that the tracks are ground level as well 😊 Other then that I love that you started this series and I’m so excited to follow along ❤

I don't quite understand, does rent increase due to lots being smaller, larger, or due to a specific shape? Edit: I should have finished the video before asking the question! I have seen that some guys go to Tiny town without placing any services and to me that is just unrealistic, so perhaps something that can be communicated to the Dev's as it makes gameplay more realistic

If your looking for Highland names Brigadoon comes to mind. Supposedly its supposed to be invisible village until 1 special day every hundred years, during which outsiders are let in. I think the map should be called either Ugh Albannach (Scottish Egg) or Uighean Uaine (Green Eggs). If you go with the 2nd one, the city center could be called Ham.

Since you like to use Mass Effect names, my name suggestion is Virmire. It kind of reflects the status of the game - a world with a lot of rich potential but unformed and uncolonised as of yet. Also, after the absolute volcano of drama over the launch, watching you start out a new city is very, very soothing. PalmsTime already proved that even with just base CS II you can still make a gorgeous looking city. I look forward to seeing what you do! Fantastic start here, though I could almost feel the pain in your voice because you *couldn't lay down any fences.* (Yet!)

When deciding on the dialect words to use in printed English, there is the story of Caxton being very confused at a Londoner not knowing the word "egg" as it is of norse origin and used in the old Danelaw. The Londoners of the time used "eyren" so you could incorporate these origins into various names; Eggby, Eggthorpe, and Eggthwaite etc Eyrenton, Eyrenham, Sticky Egging etc

I notice you have your two windturbines connected to each other. I had some problems with this, where i was generating so much electricity but still got notifications that there were rolling blackouts due to a shortage (50 MW usage vs 250MW generated). Long story short, I don't think you can chain power sources to each other like in CS1. If you check the power cable between the two, I don't think there is a 'flow' like there is in the other cables. Idk if it was just me or if this was a bug, but I ended up using a network of transformers and high voltage cables to distribute the electricity around my city. Which is more realistic, but pretty frustrating to figure out why my electricity wasn't working properly :') on the plus side, once I fixed it I immediately went into a positive budget flow for the first time because I was exporting so much electricity! edit: at 47:44 you can see the difference between the cables. Left one has highlighted white flow, right one is solid dark yellow. I took this to mean that that electricity isn't being used/transported.
