DO NOT try this with a non-hv battery and expect consistent results, about 5 years ago a rumor was going around you could charge all lipos as hv and it seemed to be fine for about a week and then people started having battery's vent in their hands (myself included) and catching quads and workbenches on fire. some higher quality lipos can probably handle it but i wouldnt be charging my beat up pizzas as hv on the reg.

Ya fs. Tbf hv batteries should only be charged to max 4.35v per cell. No battery should be charged to 4.7 ever

Botgrinder is right, but the real danger is not the pack venting in your hands as you can usually toss it and probably not get burnt but if it vents in the air while flying over buildings and forest you have yourself a massive problem.

Part of the limit is to make the cells last a long time. If you overcharge you damage them.

Main negative difference is the heat and LIPO degradation. Main positive difference is 5S voltage with 4S weight. KV difference could be achieved other ways that are less destructive. Fun experiment.

I wonder how fast you could get a race quad by overcharging by something a little more reasonable like 4.5 or doing 4.7 on a hv. My personal racer is under 300 grams with a tiny 6s, I wonder if I upgraded the esc's to be able to handle the voltage how fast it could go, but I don't have enough money to be burning lipos like that.

My charger broke and charged my 4cell to 20v. It said 16.2v on the charger but in the dji hud it was screaming 20.1v at me. It flew fast as fuck and but the next charge it went sub atomic. Thats when i started troubleshooting things and found the charger to be very broken.
