damn bro i was just shocked and pleased when i underclocked this cpu. went from 90 degrees celcius in games and 60 on desktop to 44 on desktop and 60 in games. also the wattage went from 76 in games to 40 in games. all this while improving the fps stability and even boosting it slightly. i put the clock to 3.4 ghz and -150 mv. so glad i undervolted.

I'm running all cores 4.2GHz @ 0.975V. It's unstable for stress tests, but it works fine for benchmarks like CB R20 and gaming in general. Temp while gaming is usually 63-65 degrees.

@@0s0sXD nah i dont believe that i do now. i undervolted my cpu and everythings good. also ive never had problems with my gpu temp. it hovers around 40-50 degrees in games. my cpu does about 50 in games more accurately. also i was already running like 6 fans before. i know more fans /= more cooling necessarily but it definitely did help.

I did it and I think I had it set to 1.15v for it to work on the program, then I did it in my bias. I think the cinebench is close, with this one barely edging out, but the CPU heat went down. Spider-man usually gets temperatures in the 70s, but it was in the 60s after using this. One demo on steam I like to try to temperature of my CPU is ADACA, it really raises my cpu for some reason into the 80s. Now it's in the 70s.

Keep trying different numbers and use test and apply option even if your pc crashes and show you BSD after restarting it'll revert back to normal, mine is 4ghz with 1.125v

By the looks of it, you have either very bad cooling or very bad chip! Your cpu was throttling because of heat and now you fixed frequency and gained better performance and better temps. But i seriously doubt you gained that much. Or your cpu was dropping to maybe 3.2-3.3ghz. Although even then you couldn`t have gained 50fps!!! So you are lying :) R5 3600 4.2ghz vs 4.6ghz is at best 10-12fps gain with high end gpu! Most of the time lower than that. So if you gained 50fps, your cpu was running at 2ghz before you set it on 4.

4.2 GHz is not a base clock speed for Ryzen 5 3600. Anything over 3.6 GHz is called a boost clock. If you have better cooler means you can run the CPU at 4.2 GHz or more. If you have a stock cooler then you running at 4.2 GHz is definitely a problem for your cpu.

@@theexorcist982 the thing is you don't even need to overclock to get better performance. CPU when it sees its hot it will cut down power delivery thus can't be made use of even at full clocks. Thats why when you undervolt, you lower the temps and that gives the CPU headroom to work. GPUs do the same thing. Theoretically its even possible to underclock, undervolt, and have better performing processor.

Yes. It reduces temperature of the cpu.also i compared both pbo and 4 gz by running cinibench.both results are almost same.but temperature on 4gz is very low.

@@ashleyyt1385 I figured it all out. I had a Ninja Sneaker bad Ram stick. I got the OC to work at 4000mhz 1.15 volts. XMP on with new ram only two sticks now instead of 4, clocked to the maximum factory guurunteed specs on the box. Alot of ram won't run at full speed without XMP on. Another issue for me was my 4 8b sticks were only able to run at barely 3000 mhz cuz my MoBo can only run one step under that with 4 dimms. New ram 2 16 GB sticks. All I have to do is pass memtest ONE MORE TIME! And I'm confident it will. I was intially worried about the vcore dropping too low at idle. What I did is I went back stock and ran Prime95 to get some capped values, then just let it sit in windows with nothing running to get min values. It was my first successful overclock if memtest passes this last time. Your video and ancient gameplay videos are great. I just hope people aren't flat out copying you and are testing it properly and adjusting

You need to learn the concept and meaning of overclocking! If you set speed LOWER than factory that is not OC!!! You literally underclocked and undervolted your cpu and there is no way physically possible to gain any performance the way you did it. And most definitely is not HIGH performance

4.2 GHz is not the factory clock speed.pls check the details of the CPU in manufacturers website. If you run the CPU under full load at 4.2 GHz with the stock cooler definitely your cpu temperature goes over 95 'C.
