Alison has had a fear of flying since she first flew at the age of 19. Now being petrified of plane travel for 20 years. Now this is becoming between Alison and her family as her daughter lives in Dubai. Even the sight of planes is now unbearable for her. Can Nik & Eva help?

I’m extremely sympathetic to anyone who suffers from mental health of any kind as I have suffered for 47 years now. I have attended a workshop and been trying for many years to have a private consultation but recently been told again the waiting list is closed. My anxiety affects every aspect of my life and despite trying every therapy I can find I’m still struggling. I think it’s wonderful if anyone can be cured of flying or any other type of phobia and I’m genuinely pleased for them, but does it really affect how they manage their every day life? I recently saw the programme where they helped someone who had a phobia of furbies, but did it affect their life day in day out like mine? Did the anxiety impact on their family as mine does? It must be wonderful to be helped to be able to live without the worry and fear every day and every night - I just wish they had the time to help me.

Ten years + later, this lovely lady is not only a frequent flyer but also living in Dubai, so whatever the 'look' she is now free of her fear thankfully.

My lordy! Ya'll live in England! you can get anywhere by train.....why is everyone torturing this woman. If my dear friend knew I was terrified of flying she would never make flying for holiday together a prerequisite for friendship. We would drive or take a train to holiday!

I need advice with the fear of dental procedure. its the fear of panicking and losing control in the dentist chair which is similar to this lady's fear of the same thing happening on the plane.

It’s disappointing that every time I leave constructive criticism that people need leave me a defensive reply. I am not a troll I like the Speakmans sometimes I feel they can improve. We are not perfect and sometimes negative feedback is important especially to public figures. I gave a supportive comment last week obviously I don’t have anything against these Therapists. I will be honest when I leave comments.

I agree. I don't think shaming the poor lady and telling her "You obviously don't want to see your daughter" is kind, and if that was me I'd tell them to fuck right off!

It’s gaslighting in my opinion. I have nothing against the Speakmans and they mean well but sometimes a lack of awareness with there responses shock me. The responses are not very useful at all.

Why I really hate flying is the reason that aeroplane safety improves mostly after some tragic accident occurs. And I dont want sacrifice my life to make flying safer, that's the worst way to go. On the other hand it totally cured my fear of dentists and insects because I am saying myself, well at least I am not in plane 38k feets up there

If they hadn't done it the way they did, she would still not be flying! Ask her if she'd prefer they were more gentle with her, or if they did the exact right thing to CURE her!

Thanks for your response. You don’t know if their harshness worked in fact it almost didn’t work just look at her face in some parts. I don’t think your interested in that because your seem I hate to say it have a bias towards the Speakmans. I don’t have any think against them as people The Speakmans obviously mean well it’s all constructive criticism.I have spoke to a counsellor aswell and they agree shaming isnt appropriate.

If your daughter is a flight attendant why doesn't she fly to you? Your daughter obviously doesn't have an fear of flying so she should be the one to fly to you! Why is she forcing you to go through this?

@@Babyboffa2018 actually if my memory serves the video specifically said the mom had not seen the daughter meaning the flight attendant daughter who can probably fly for free and has no trouble flying couldn't be bothered to visit mom. The problem here isn't flying. I was a therapist pre-Covid and if I were working with this family my approach would have been 100% different and certain not been shame based for the mum

I LOVE the Speakmans and how they are able to help ppl! And I think they are as tough as they need to be to effect a cure! 🫶
