I'm really sorry to hear that you're experiencing bullying in the clinical workplace. It's truly unfair and challenging, especially for someone as strong and resilient as you. Remember, it's important to seek support, whether it's from trusted colleagues, a mentor, or a mental health professional. You deserve to work in an environment where you're respected and valued. Also, I'd love to hear what you found most useful from the video and, if you're looking to learn about dealing with toxic people or behaviors or want to browse through my video library, don’t hesitate to use my AI: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes.

My therapist called me resilient but I just feel like the lamp from A Christmas Story. I’m broken, held together by glue, and one heavy lamp shade will make me crumble.

Holding it together...like the glue...is an amazing strength in itself. Sometimes just hanging in there is all we can do. Your therapist must see the strength in that glue that holds the broken bits together

I’m sorry you're feeling this way. Being called resilient doesn't always match how we feel inside. It's okay to feel fragile and acknowledge the struggles you're facing. Remember, resilience isn't about never feeling broken-it's about continuing to move forward despite those feelings. You’re doing your best, and it’s okay to feel vulnerable. Lean on your therapist and support system; they can help you strengthen those bonds and support you as you heal. You don’t have to carry the weight alone. I'd love to know what you found most helpful in the video. Also, if you're looking to learn more on the topic or search for videos in the video library, please visit: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes.

@@DocSnipes Hi Doctor Snipes. I actually lost access to my therapist since my insurance was tied to my job and I lost my job. My safety net doesn’t cover talk therapy so I’m using what I learned from my therapist and supplementing that knowledge with KZbin. You are such an invaluable resource and I’m still processing that breadth of the information that you presented in your video. What draws me to your channel is how you combine your extensive knowledge with a compassionate demeanor to explain complicated subjects in a concise and clear manner.

Thank you for your kind words and support! Here are some of the most successful tools used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Tools: Creating Safety: Helping individuals feel safe in various environments by addressing physical, emotional, and environmental safety. Distress Tolerance: Activities to reset the stress response and trigger relaxation, such as sensory tools (smells, visuals, sounds). Systematic Desensitization: Gradually exposing individuals to triggers or stimuli in a controlled manner to reduce anxiety or fear responses. Mindfulness: Staying present, managing stress, and making intentional choices. Evaluating Beliefs: Challenging and reframing cognitive distortions. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Tools: Mindfulness: Preventing vulnerabilities by being aware of how one feels in the moment and addressing stress early. Distress Tolerance Skills: Techniques like urge surfing and acronyms ACCEPT (Activities, Comparisons, Contributing, Emotions, Pushing Away, Sensations) and IMPROVE (Imagery, Meaning, Prayer, Relaxation, One Thing at a Time, Take a Mental Vacation, Encouragement). Radical Acceptance: Accepting what is in the moment and embracing the dialectics (recognizing both good and bad aspects of situations). Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Tools: Acceptance: Accepting what is in the moment and learning to diffuse from thoughts (e.g., "I am having the thought that I'm terrified" instead of "I am terrified"). Defining Goals and Values: Figuring out what's important and choosing purposeful actions to move towards those goals. Living in the 'And': Understanding that one can have a rich and meaningful life while experiencing fear or distress. These tools aim to empower individuals, promote self-awareness, and help them make conscious choices that align with their values and goals. If you have any specific questions or need further details on any of these tools, feel free to ask or use my AI at: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes.
