For the most part structural stuff is congenital; trying to change it is like trying to grow a third ear. Sure there's plasticity on the HPA axis as you noted, but the way it worked out is you acquired PTSD. There's a theory that the brain "adapts" by becoming addicted to the stress hormones so it'll dysregulate your emotions loosey goosey. This is probably beneficial to a population but not individuals themselves. Nature is wild!

I don’t think degrees necessarily mean a person is intelligent, it simply means they are able to study and retain knowledge short term. I know plenty of people with degrees who lack absolutely any common sense or intelligence. Also more people in the UK of this generation don’t end up getting jobs or working in a friend related to their qualification anyway. They simply come out of college with a very expensive piece of paper. Anyone can educate themselves using books, online resources and self learning - you don’t need a qualification to be knowledgeable in a field. 👌🏼
